Photos: Kawasaki In 2025, Kawasaki's popular retro family will grow by two new members.
The W230 and the Meguro S1 are an ideal choice for beginners who want to combine elegant vintage style with modern technology. The two models, which differ only in design, are reminiscent of the great tradition of both brands.
The history of Kawasaki's W models began with the 650W1 from 1966. The motorcycle history of the Meguro brand, which was founded 100 years ago, goes back even further. In the 1960s, it was taken over by Kawasaki. With the new Meguro S1, Kawasaki is commemorating the successful time of the cult brand in Japan.
At the heart of both models is a robust and characterful single-cylinder engine. The engine provides good acceleration values, especially at low and medium speeds. Vibrations are contained by a balancer shaft. In keeping with the retro approach, large rounded cooling fins can be found on the cylinder head.
The compact dimensions of the chassis allow for relaxed driving pleasure. A secure footing is guaranteed for smaller pilots by the low seat height. With a weight of only 143 kg, the two new models are also among the lightest in their class. This also results in an excellent power-to-weight ratio.
The suspension elements consist of a 37 mm telescopic fork at the front and two five-way adjustable suspension struts at the rear. The fenders are made of steel, which emphasizes the classic look together with the retro-style exhaust and spoked wheels. The beautiful round instruments fit stylishly into the overall concept.
The two models differ purely visually: The W230 has a painted tank, while the Meguro S1 has a chrome-plated tank. The entire appearance, including the seat design, has been specially adapted to the respective lines.
The W230 and the Meguro S1 will be available from Kawasaki dealers in time for the start of the season. The first presentation to the public in Germany will take place at INTERMOT in Cologne (5 to 8 December 2024).
