KAWASAKI CELEBRATES HALF A CENTURY OF Z MODELS AND CALLS FOR Z-STARS COMPETITION
In principle, all special models are in the tradition of the 900Z1 from 1972, but at the same time show the wide range of today's Z models. In addition, Kawasaki Germany will launch a competition on January 6, 2022 in which the Z-Stars will be searched, selected and awarded by Kawasaki riders.
The central point of contact for the festive activities in Germany is a special website, which can now be accessed under www.50-jahre-z.de. There you will find a lot of information, downloads and current dates for the Z50 anniversary. However, the central component of the Z50 website is the Z-Stars competition. Anyone who wants to choose their Z, ZR, Zephyr, ZRX or GPZ model can upload photos and a description here. Both gracefully aged, perfectly restored, as well as blatantly converted specimens of the mentioned series are permitted. An independent jury will initially select five special bikes from the entries. These five bikes and their owners will then be presented to the public in more detail. The winner of the Z-Stars competition, who will take home a new Z900RS 50th Anniversary as the main prize, will then be determined by online voting, in which everyone can participate. The announcement of the winning bike and the award ceremony will then take place during the Kawasaki Days at the Technik Museum in Speyer (23/24 July 2022). All details and the exact conditions of participation can be found at www.50-jahre-z.de.
In addition to the Z-Stars competition, Kawasaki's anniversary models will attract special attention among fans and collectors. For the Z900 and Z650, a special Firecracker Red livery was created, which is strongly reminiscent of the GPZ models of the 1980s. In addition, the golden fork standpipes of the Z900 50th Anniversary immediately catch the eye. In addition, both models have other exclusive details such as a special seat cover or the Z50 lettering.
The Modern Classic series from Kawasaki also commemorates the anniversary with two special models. For both the Z900RS and the new Z650RS series, 50th Anniversary special models will be released for the Z50 anniversary. A special painting process was used for the colour scheme in classic Candy Diamond Brown. The candy colors of the tank appear particularly deep and high-gloss. This enhances the natural beauty of the bikes. The gold-coloured rims, an exclusive seat cover, a chrome-plated pillion handle, the lettering "Double Overhead Camshaft" and the discreetly attached Z50 logo on the tank also contribute to this. The Z900RS 50th Anniversary also features DOHC lettering on both engine covers.
All special models are expected to come to Germany in time for the start of the season in the 2nd quarter of 2022.
