UPDATED SUPERNAKED BIKE: NEW EXPERIENCE DESIGN, MORE EXPERIENCE AND LIGHT TO EXPERIENCE
The Z900, revised for 2020, remains true to its predecessor's "fun and easy to drive" concept, but takes the aggressive Z-Sugomi design to a new level. Numerous new modern features make the Kawasaki bestseller even more attractive: Integrated driving modes that combine newly added KTRC and power modes, new TFT color display, smartphone connectivity, complete LED lighting and less pollutant emissions are just a few highlights.
The Z900 (2019) we have already tested for you - in 2020 the model gets the following updates:
Less pollutant emissions and richer exhaust sound
* Numerous changes to the components of the exhaust system reduce the emission of pollutants. The performance and driving feel of the previous model are nevertheless retained.
* The richer exhaust sound further optimizes the ingenious intake noise of the previous model as well as the breathtaking acceleration of the in-line four-cylinder.
Gentle acceleration/deceleration
Revised clutch steam springs and updated FI settings provide smoother acceleration and deceleration.
Stronger framework
While the well-known handling of the Z900 was preserved, the swing axis area was reinforced by a revision of the frame.
The front and rear suspension settings have been adjusted to fit the new frame.
New tyres
* New Dunlop Sportmax Roadsport 2 tyres contribute to the superior handling of the Z900.
Latest development of the Z-Sugomi design
* The design of the headlight area contributes to a more powerful, compact look, as the sharp edges highlight the design of the new headlamp.
* The new LED headlight is flanked by LED position lights with a structured surface, creating an entire illuminated shape.
* The new panels, tank cover, underfloor panels and silver swing axle cover are all more compact and provide a more powerful look.
LED complete lighting
* The new LED headlights, position lights, license plate lights and indicators contribute to the more powerful design of the Z900. The rear light consists of the same LED unit as before.
KTRC (Kawasaki Traction Control)
Kawasaki's state-of-the-art traction control system allows a step-by-step choice from sporty driving with maximum propulsion to increased safety on slippery roads. Three selectable operating modes result in an increasingly severe intervention, so that the traction control can be adjusted to the driving situation and the driver's desire.
* Operating mode 1: Has the least interference with the driving behavior and helps to control the traction in curves. Designed for sporty driving, it simplifies acceleration from corners by maximizing the driving force of the rear wheel.
* Operating mode 2: The procedure takes place earlier, which ensures a balance between sporty driving style and a higher feeling of safety.
* Operating mode 3: Provides the most intensive intervention. If the rear wheel speed is higher than that of the front wheel, the engine power is reduced until the rear wheel has traction again. This allows the driver to master short slippery spots (such as .B tracks or canal lids) as safely as longer routes with poor road conditions (e..B wet road, cobblestones, rolling split).
Power Modes
* By switching between full-power and low-power mode (limited to about 55% of full power), the driver can match the performance to his preference and track condition.
Integrated driving modes:
Sports, Road, Rain, Driver (Manual)
By combining TRC and Power Modes, drivers can easily adjust traction control and power output to adapt them to the prevailing driving situation.
* Drivers can choose from three settings (sport, road, rain) or a manual setting (rider). In manual driver mode, the individual systems can be set independently of each other.
Sport: Provides the driver with sporty handling with minimal intervention through Kawasaki's state-of-the-art electronic assistance system.
Road: Covers different driving situations from driving through the city to motorway trips to road trips.
Rain: Provides the driver with more safety when driving on wet roads.
Driving modes | KTRC | Power mode |
Sport | 1 | Q |
Street | 2 | Q |
Rain | 3 | L |
Rider (manual) | 1/2/3/OFF | F/L |
* The driving mode can be changed while driving via the button on the left side of the handlebars.
TFT color display
The new digital 4.3" TFT colour display gives the cockpit a high-quality high-tech look. The new display also has other features that were not yet available on the previous models.
* The background color of the screen is selectable (black or white), and the screen brightness automatically switches between three levels set by the driver to adjust to the lighting conditions.
* Display functions include: digital speedometer, digital rev counter with bar display, gear indicator, switching indicator, fuel level indicator, odometer, two day mileage counter, current and average fuel consumption, range, average speed, total travel time, coolant temperature, clock, battery voltage, Kawasaki service reminder, oil change reminder, driving mode display, smartphone call and email notifications, Bluetooth
Smartphone Connectivity
Thanks to the Bluetooth technology integrated into the instrument unit, the driver can establish a wireless connection to the motorcycle. The "RIDEOLOGY" smartphone app allows the driver to access some instrument functions, which increases the information density
* The following features are available:
Vehicle info: Information such as .B. fuel level indicator, odometer, maintenance plan, can be displayed via smartphone.
Travel log: GPS route information as well as driving information about the vehicle can be recorded and displayed via the smartphone.
Phone Notifications: When a call or email is received on your smartphone, it appears on the instrument display.
General settings: General instrument display settings (e..B. units of measurement, date, date format, etc.) can be adjusted via the smartphone.
Extensive accessories
With the extensive original accessories from Kawasaki, the motorcycle can be further customized. It can go more in the sporty direction or the comfort can be further increased. (The availability of the accessories may vary depending on the market.)
* In addition to the existing range of accessories, a large instrument cover, a high passenger seat (+20 mm), the first USB port from Kawasaki under the seat and a scratch-resistant protective film for the TFT display are newly available.
* Other available accessories include: a low seat, a high seat (+20 mm), passenger seat cover, tank bag, DC on-board socket (25 W), extended flap, oil lid, radiator protection, frame protection, motor protection, front axle protection, tank pad and knee pads.
MODEL VARIANTS
Model 70/35 kW
In addition to the changes to the full power model, various changes have been made to the European 70/35 kW model.
* While the power of the 70 kW version remains unchanged, the 35 kW version now offers a stronger lower and medium speed range. In addition, a higher speed at full power (6,500 rpm >> 7,900 rpm) provides an increased sense of performance.
* The changes to the exhaust system for lower pollutant emissions are the same as for the full-power model, apart from the silencer, which remains unchanged here.
* A KTRC and Power Modes selection (Full/Low) is also available. In the 70 kW version, low power limits maximum performance to approximately 50%. In the 35 kW variant, full power and low power have the same peak performance, but low-power mode uses a more linear power curve than the previous model.
COLOR(N)
* Metallic Graphite Gray (Grey)/Metallic Spark Black (Black)
* Candy Lime Green (Green)/Metallic Spark Black (Black)
