Even in 2020, Suzuki isn't doing much. There is no new Hayabusa and the Burgmann 650 falls out of the program. Otherwise mainly color and design innovations. But there is news from "Mrs. Strom" :-): The small V-current 250 leaves the Suzuki stage and the new V-current 1050/XT enters the spotlight. It is available in white, black and grey and costs 12,790 € or 14,190 € as an XT version.
MULTIFUNCTIONAL DISPLAY
The instrument cluster presents all the required data according to priority on a clear LCD display, which can be read intuitively. Displayed are speed, speed (high-resolution digital display), gear, Mileage, daily mileage (A, B), current fuel consumption, average fuel consumption, remaining range, fuel level, coolant temperature, ambient temperature, time, battery voltage, service indicator, SDMS mode, traction control mode, cruise control, ABS mode, mountain start assist, speed indicator light, frost warning light, indicator light, high-beam indicator light, traction control light, ABS indicator light and indicator light.
Adjustable chassis with coordinated tyres
Spring preload, pressure level and pull stage of the upside-down fork with only 43 millimeters diameter of KYB can be precisely adjusted to the driver's preferences or the respective driving situation. For the rear suspension, a central spring leg is used, the preload of which can be easily adjusted with the help of a hand adjustment wheel. The V-STROM 1050XT is equipped with DIDLight metal rims with wire spokes, the V-STROM 1050 with ten-spoke aluminium casting wheels. Default
Bridgestone Battlax Adventure A41 radial tyres are mounted, front 110/80R19 and rear 150/70R17.
Adjustable & comfortable bench
The two-piece bench is optimally padded and offers a high level of seating comfort even on long tours. With the V-STROM 1050XT, the height of the driver's seat can be changed by 20 mm.
Conified aluminum handlebar
The new model is equipped with a conical aluminium handlebar. The shape enhances the off-road style feeling. Revised V-Twin engine
The liquid-cooled, DOHC, 1037cm3-90°-V-Twin engine has been further developed. It meets the new Euro 5 emission control standards and still achieves a maximum output of 79.0kW at 8,500 rpm, while maintaining its low fuel consumption (4.9 L / 100 km). There is also a 35 kW version for the European driving licence directives. In the low speed range, the motor delivers a rich sound, a strong and linear torque in the middle speed range and maximum performance in the high speed range with uniform pull-through. Thanks to this sophisticated engine, the driver can enjoy the most possible situations, such as city and country roads, winding passes, flat gravel roads and motorways.
Robust aluminium bridge frame
The lightweight aluminium cast bridge frame ensures an optimal balance of stiffness in terms of stability and handling. The aluminium swingarm also supports balance and easy handling.
Traction control
With the help of a modified traction control system, the driver can maintain control in a variety of conditions, safer, more stress-free and less tiring. The traction control mode has been increased to three modes plus off mode for different road conditions, thus adapting better to the driver's preferences. The traction control system continuously monitors the speed of the front and rear wheels, the throttle position, the crank position and the gear position. When a twisting of the rear wheel is detected, the system immediately controls the power output by adjusting the ignition time and the throttle position.
SCAS - Clutch Suzuki Assist System
The assistance system facilitates the pulling of the clutch lever, so that coupling on long distances is less tiring for the driver.USB port
A USB port is located on the left side of the LCD display. It can be used to charge a smartphone, navigation system or other mobile device.
Heat exchanger
The new oil cooler with liquid cooling is light and compact and space-saving attached to the oil filter. It ensures flawless lubrication and thus contributes to an increase in engine performance.
Ecm
The newly programmed engine control unit ECM (Engine Control Module) ensures modern engine management that meets the requirements of the Euro 5 standard.
Double ignition technology
Each cylinder head is equipped with two Iridium spark plugs. The ignition time is controlled independently, which contributes to a high combustion efficiency, higher power, linear gas response, better engine start and a more stable idle.
Camshafts and control times
Both the outlet and the inlet cam profile have been changed, so that the cam stroke increases and the control times have less overlap. This improves combustion efficiency and contributes to both higher performance and lower fuel consumption.
Electronic throttle housing
The ride-by-wire throttle control is now simpler, lighter and more compact than the previous model with a larger bore (49 mm compared to 45 mm of the previous model). The throttle housings are installed independently of each other, both on the front and rear cylinders. Each housing has its own actuator that precisely controls the opening and closing of the throttle valves.
Suzuki Easy Start System
With the Suzuki Easy-Start system, the driver can start the engine with a single pressure on the start button in any weather or operating condition, whether cold or hot. The start button does not need to be pressed further until the starter turns and starts the motor. A quick press on the start button is enough.
Assistant for low speeds
The Low Speed Assistant automatically monitors and increases the idle speed when starting up or slowing down. The electronic control allows an even finer dosing of the gas acceptance and prevents an unintentional death of the engine at low speeds. The system makes it easier for drivers to cope with a traffic jam or manoeuvre in heavy traffic, or to move more easily in a crowded car park.
Electronic ride-by-wire throttle control system
The ride-by-wire throttle system is more uncomplicated, lighter and more compact than the previous model and has a larger bore at 49 mm (previous model
45 mm). The throttle housing is independent on the front and rear
cylindermounted. Each housing has a single throttle valve, which is suitable for precise
opens and closes the controller via an independent motor.
