Suzuki Katana des Modelljahrgangs 2025

The Suzuki Katana enters the 2025 season with its current Euro 5+ approval and in two stylish color variants

Suzuki has created nothing less than a true motorcycle icon with the Katana introduced in 1981. Inspired by the Japanese longsword, the bike convinces not only with its eye-catching design, but also with its precise riding style and willingness to perform – a real samurai on two wheels. 37 years later, in 2018, Suzuki brought the legend back to life with the second generation of the Katana, bringing the virtues and design of the historic model into the present with modern technology.

The heart of the Katana is the in-line four-cylinder engine, which comes from the GSX-R1000 super sports bike. Thanks to the special tuning of the injection system and the electronic throttle system, the 152 hp (112 kW) engine in combination with the gentle profiles of the two overhead camshafts delivers plenty of torque at low and medium engine speeds. This ensures smooth power delivery and excellent rideability that is perfect for everyday use. But sporty drivers also get their money's worth when the engine revs up to the rated speed of 11,000 rpm.

The engine is packed with modern technology. The cylinders are integrated into the crankcase and coated with the advanced Suzuki Composite Electrochemical (SCEM) material. This ensures optimal heat transport and reduces internal friction, which contributes to high efficiency and the typical Suzuki durability.

The Suzuki Intelligent Ride System (S.I.R.S.) is for all those who want modern assistance systems in their motorcycles. The Suzuki Drive Mode Selector (SDMS) has three modes that allow you to perfectly adjust the engine characteristics to different conditions. There's also a switchable, five-stage traction control (STCS), ride-by-wire, a bidirectional quick-shifter, the Suzuki Easy-Start system, low-RPM assist and, of course, ABS.

The Katana's lightweight aluminium chassis ensures that the bike is ideal for both sporty country road rides and relaxed cruising through the city. The 43 USD fork from KYB is fully adjustable and, together with the central shock absorber, which can be adjusted in spring preload and rebound damping, offers many possibilities for individual setups. Brembo's 310 dual disc brakes and monobloc calipers provide supersport-level braking performance.

The lighting of the Katana relies fully on modern LED technology. The rectangular, horizontally split headlight is stylishly reminiscent of the original from the 80s. The LED rear light has sharp lines that perfectly match the distinctive contours of the body. In the cockpit you will find an LCD instrument cluster, which is flanked by LED displays and clearly displays all important information.
