Photos: Triumph TRIUMPH presents the new Speed Twin 1200 and Speed Twin 1200 RS
For fans of high-performance motorcycles in classic outfits, TRIUMPH Motorcycles is launching two new Speed Twins with many technical upgrades: the Speed Twin 1200 and the even more dynamic Speed Twin 1200 RS model.
Both bikes come with a 5 hp increase in engine power, as well as extensive improvements to the chassis and an extended technology package with cornering ABS and traction control. The new Speed Twins, which also have a fresher, sporty, classic design, take the well-known dynamic handling to a new level.

With a comprehensive performance expansion and numerous technology upgrades, TRIUMPH is sending the popular Speed Twin 1200 into the 2025 model year. But that's not all: Those Speed Twin fans who like their bike to be noticeably more focused and with an even sportier and more precise ride are in the right place with the new Speed Twin 1200 RS.
Something for every Modern Classic fan: the Speed Twin 1200 RS and the Speed Twin 1200
The new Speed Twin 1200 features an improved chassis with a Marzocchi USD fork and stereo shock absorbers from the same manufacturer, which further optimize the bike's thrillingly light-footed handling. On top of that, there is also more power in addition to the chassis upgrade: 5 hp more peak power provide additional character and sporty driving pleasure. To ensure that this performance is safe at all times, the new Speed Twin 1200 also features new technologies, such as optimised cornering ABS and traction control. The sportier appearance of the TRIUMPH is reflected in the refreshed style of the design. It combines brighter, sporty elements with the stylish, classic design DNA of TRIUMPH's Modern Classics range.
In comparison, the new Speed Twin 1200 RS model offers drivers a much more dynamic overall package. Sportier ergonomics thanks to a repositioned handlebar and footpegs set back are combined with an exceptional level of equipment. This includes a fully adjustable Marzocchi fork and also top-of-the-range fully adjustable Öhlins shock absorbers, as well as Brembo Stylema brake calipers. In combination with the standard Metzeler Racetec RR K3 tyres and the TRIUMPH shift assistant, which is installed for the first time on a Modern Classic model, the Speed Twin 1200 RS is ideally equipped for sporty country road rounds.

SPORTY MODERN CLASSIC STYLE
At first glance, the new tank design catches the eye: curved lines, deep recesses at the front and a new, hinged fuel cap make the look of the new Speed Twin 1200 even more impressive. The side covers are kept flat and flush with the brushed aluminum throttle body covers.

With TRIUMPH's signature attention to detail, many classic-inspired pieces have been refined and updated. Among them are the new, black powder-coated engine covers, which are now slimmer and more angular. Plus, more compact mufflers add to the timeless elegance of uninterrupted exhaust routing.
The sleek round headlight is now an LED unit with a new DRL light signature, a new brushed aluminum surround, and an elegant cast aluminum trim. In keeping with the sporty style, the one-piece seat is now flatter and more shapely. For a more comfortable riding position, it is also narrower at the front. The RS seat comes in a sporty, brushed finish. Both benches have characteristic quilted seams. The cast aluminium wheels are also new: with seven slim pairs of spokes arranged in a sporty turbine pattern, they perfectly complement the extra sportiness with the new bodywork.
On the 2025 Speed Twin 1200, two split color designs underline the modern character: An eye-catching "1200" tank graphic separates the upper part in Crystal White or Carnival Red from a lower part in Sapphire Black. This makes the tank appear flatter and longer, giving it a sleeker look. Alternatively, there is also a classically inspired version in Aluminium Silver with discreet "1200" lettering and black double stripes.
The Speed Twin 1200 RS is available in two variants: bright Baja Orange or subtle Sapphire Black, both with gold RS stickers that perfectly match the anodized suspension components.
FOCUSED, DYNAMIC HANDLING
From now on, Speed Twin fans have a choice: Each of the two new Speed Twin 1200 models has its own specific seating position, each of which gives the rider its own specific riding experience.
The handlebars of the new Speed Twin 1200 are higher and slightly further forward than the previous model, thus offering a more upright riding position and a more confident riding experience. The 43 mm diameter Marzocchi fork and the Marzocchi shock absorbers on the rear wheel have been revised and now have reservoirs in addition to the adjustable spring preload. These chassis improvements increase the agility of the dynamic Speed Twin 1200 and ensure safe and comfortable handling in all operating conditions. A 320 mm dual disc brake system with new TRIUMPH-branded radial brake calipers, combined with the standard Metzeler Sportec M9 RR tyres, ensures excellent braking performance.
For riders looking for even more dynamic performance and more sporty riding pleasure, the new Speed Twin 1200 RS offers a more committed and concentrated riding position. Since the rear of the motorcycle is raised, the seat height increases slightly. The handlebars are the same height as the previous model, but have also been cranked a little further forward. In addition, the footrests are slightly higher and further back. The noticeably more dynamic character of the RS version is underlined by very high-quality chassis and brake components. The Speed Twin RS comes standard with a fully adjustable Marzocchi fork and high-quality and also fully adjustable Öhlins shock absorbers as well as a Brembo Stylema double disc brake system with 320 mm rotors. The sporty appearance is rounded off with the standard Metzeler Racetec RR K3 high-performance tyres.

INSPIRING SPORTING POWER
For the new Speed Twin 1200 models, TRIUMPH has further increased the performance of the Bonneville 1200-Twin in the "High Compression" version: The engine, which is thrillingly powerful in all speed ranges, now has a 5 hp increase in peak power with 105 hp at 7,750 rpm, combined with improved torque up to the rev limit. The 270-degree ignition sequence and the crankshaft with low moment of inertia ensure a very direct response with a pronounced and characteristic twin "heartbeat" as well as a rich torque over the entire speed range, reaching 112 Nm at its peak.

The new Speed Twin 1200 and Speed Twin 1200 RS will be available from TRIUMPH dealers from January 2025. The new Speed Twin models also offer a very attractive overall package – including long maintenance intervals of 16,000 km and a full 4-year manufacturer's warranty with no mileage limit as well as a 2-year mobility warranty.
