For the past three years, the Italian retro forge F.B Mondial has been thrilling again with absolutely attractive motorcycles in Germany. Its latest model, a Flat Track 125i ABS, is also reminiscent of the highly successful history of the traditional brand, which won ten World Championship titles in the 1950s. The F.B Mondial novelty is inspired by the still popular flat track races that emerged in the US in the 1920s, while the speedway races established themselves in Europe. Flat Track is one of the oldest motorcycle sports available: on oval racetracks with sandy ground, riders compete in sharp left turns. The Flat Track 125i ABS from F.B Mondial is perfectly styled in the sporty racing design: as anno at the time in dynamic colours and with distinctive start numbers. The ambitious designers of the World Championship brand have incorporated modern technology into the 125 Flat Track.
The genetics of the F.B Mondial model clearly come from the Flat Track family: The new Mondial Flat Track 125i ABS is narrow, purist and built with a flat silhouette, only the aimless Fatbar handlebar shows itself from the wide and expansive side. The sports bench is also straight and low with a height of 846 mm – so that the drifting rear can be better controlled with the help of the outstretched legs. The starting numbers, which are emblazoned on the front and side sides on the distinctive number plates and which perfectly round off the nostalgic retro style, are unmistakable. Striking detail: Due to the large start number plate in the front area, the front LED headlight is arranged horizontally.
As usual with a flat track, the cladding shows itself from the minimalist side, giving the view of the engine unabashedly. In terms of styling, the Flat Track 125i ABS features the Italian grandezza and elegance of the F.B Mondial brand but unmistakable: the motorcycle shines in the tasteful racing colour yellow/black or black with discreet
integrated grey and white elements, visually appealing bow trim and a side cover made of brushed aluminium. The design puts a clear focus on elegant dynamics and underlines the sporty ambition of the new model as a flat track racer.
As is theme of a long-established world champion brand, F.B Mondial still attaches great importance to high-quality technology. The legendary F.B Mondial engineer Alfonso Drusiani, who in the fifties with his high-turning four-stroke racing motorcycles took new paths and installed for the first time, filigree technology in his ambitious constructions, established Mondial's reputation as an ingenious mechanical engineer. His current descendants have installed a liquid-cooled 125 cubic four-cylinder single-cylinder engine in the Mondial Flat Track, which already meets the Euro 5 standard. With 10 kW / 14 hp power and 10.5 Nm of torque, the 125 Flat offers a dynamic appearance. The finely graduated 6-speed transmission, the rear central spring leg and the large upside-down fork with 90 mm commute ensure that comfort is not neglected despite the minimalist flat track concept. The short wheelbase with 1360 mm, the low weight of 133 kg and the large 19 inch spoke wheels with dual-sport tyre profile keep the motorcycle stable in the lane on winding roads and allow it to meander agilely through narrow gaps in city traffic. The braking system includes Wave brake discs and steel flex brake lines at the front and rear as well as modern ABS technology.
A special feature is also the very comfortable seating position: the distance between the seat and the footrest sits has been increased to allow even larger drivers plenty of space, and the shiny passenger cover in the vehicle racing design is also removable. The complete package is rounded off with a double rear silencer made of stainless steel, an original license plate holder that sits on the swinging boom, two horizontally installed LED headlights including LED running light combi-blinkers with integrated position light and a new TFT multifunction display, which offers different display modes and full information flow in the cockpit.
The new F.B Mondial Flat Track 125i ABS with a price of 3,795 euros plus 190.08 euro additional costs now ensures a real racing feeling on two wheels.
