Photos: Triumph A strong storm is coming!
The world's largest displacement motorcycle gets even more impressive as TRIUMPH Motorcycles unveils the new Rocket 3 Storm R and Rocket 3 Storm GT models.
The heart of the two new power bikes – the 2.5-litre in-line three-cylinder engine – now delivers 182hp, a whopping 15 horsepower more than before. The torque of 225Nm is also at a new, record-breaking level. Thanks to the use of lighter wheels, the "stormy sisters" also have significantly better handling. The well-known extra-cool appearance of the Rocket 3 models is further enhanced by numerous blackened parts and elaborate 2-color designs.
Twenty years after the first record-breaking Rocket III conquered the motorcycle scene as the ultimate muscle roadster, the latest generation of the Rocket is now launched. It offers more power and better handling and also impresses with a dark, atmospheric colour scheme. With these advantages, the new model has also earned a new name: Curtain Up for the Rocket 3 Storm – a name that perfectly matches its powerful appearance and the spectacular driving experience that comes with it.
Like the previous Rocket 3, the new model is powered by the world's largest production motorcycle engine with a displacement of 2,458 cc. The new version of the inline triple in the Rocket 3 Storm R and GT now offers a whopping 15 hp more in peak power with 182 hp at 7,000 rpm. Torque has also been increased by 4 Nm, reaching a new high of 225 Nm at a low 4,000 rpm. This very flat and extremely rich torque curve delivers enormous torque power across the entire rev range, providing explosive acceleration and effortlessly powerful acceleration in every gear.
The Rocket's new rims – with 16-inch at the rear and 17-inch at the front – feature a sportier ten-spoke cast aluminum design that significantly reduces unsprung and rotating masses. This results in a much easier turn-in response and improves the already impressive agility of the Rocket. First introduced in 2019, the strong and lightweight aluminium frame made of cast and forged elements ensures an exceptional ratio between engine performance and weight.
After the sales success of the last Rocket special editions with blackened components, the new Rocket 3 Storm models are characterized by a dark, elegantly strong color scheme and a superior quality of all components and details.
The large 18-litre fuel tank now bears the new Storm lettering and is available in three distinctive, two-tone design options on each of the two model variants. The Rocket 3 Storm R is available in Carnival Red with Sapphire Black, Satin Pacific Blue with Matt Sapphire Black, and Sapphire Black with Granite. The GT is available in the same colours, but the colour distribution is reversed, resulting in a distinctive, eye-catching look and a consistent colour selection across both models. Otherwise, both new Rocket 3 Storm models are almost entirely in black – with high-quality painted or otherwise black finished parts.
Back in Black: Almost all parts of the new TRIUMPH Rocket 3 Storm models are finished in black.
Also new for 2024, the Rocket 3 Storm now exceeds the latest Euro 5+ emissions standards and features low emissions and excellent fuel efficiency.
Paul Stroud, Chief Commercial Officer of TRIUMPH, says: "The Rocket is known around the world as the ultimate muscle roadster and has already sold more than 18,000 units since the introduction of the 2.5-liter engine in 2019. From feedback from our customers, we know they love the Rocket's muscular appearance and stunning performance. And we also know that the drivers want even more. That's why the new Rocket 3 Storm R and GT have received a noticeable increase in power and torque, even more agility, an even darker, more atmospheric style and an even stronger presence on the road."
