Convenient use of the smartphone as a navigation system.
For motorcyclists who would like to use their smartphone for map navigation, BMW Motorrad now has the ConnectedRide Cradle in its range.
However, the ConnectedRide Cradle does not only serve as a simple holder to use the smartphone comfortably as a navigation device while driving. Rather, the navigation map and vehicle data such as lean angle, acceleration, deceleration and much more can be displayed via the BMW Motorrad Connected app using the multi-controller.
Thanks to individually adjustable holding arms, the ConnectedRide Cradle allows numerous different smartphone sizes and charges the smartphone inductively with a maximum of 7.5 W according to the Qi standard or wired via a USB-C port with a maximum of 7.5 W (1.5 A at 5 V). Information about the charging activity is provided by a
LED charging activity indicator (can be switched off).
For safety reasons, the ConnectedRide Cradle can be locked on the owner of the motorcycle, provided that it supports it.
The ConnectedRide Cradle can also be used on older BMW Motorrad models (e.g. BMW R 1200 GS K50) and fits all BMW Motorrad models equipped with the optional equipment "Preparation navigation device (SA 272)" – as well as models equipped with multi-controllers and the possibility of retrofitting the navigation preparation via the BMW Motorrad workshop system (except R 1200 RT, R 1250 RT, K 1600 models). For older vehicles without a TFT instrument cluster, operation is possible via the control element of the "Preparation navigation device SA 272". The prerequisite for displaying the vehicle data is the optional equipment "On-board computer Pro (SA 221)".
The ConnectedRide Cradle cannot be used with the 4-button Mount Cradle of the navigator.
For the full use of all described functions,
use the BMW Motorrad Connected app from version 4.0. BMW Motorrad recommends that you always install the latest updates to ensure proper functioning.
A Bluetooth connection is required to enable the app to be controlled by the navigation preparation control element on the vehicle. To do this, smartphones must have at least Bluetooth Low Energy version 4.2 to meet the security requirements
(LE Secure Connections) to the connection. Smartphones with older Bluetooth versions are therefore not supported.
Bluetooth pairing takes place within the BMW Motorrad Connected app and is only required once during initial setup.
