Revised for 2019: Kawasaki Versys 1000/Versys 1000 SE
Photo: Kawasaki Kawasaki recently presented the news for the 2019 season. The chassis and the electronic equipment of the Versys 1000/Versys 1000 SE are particularly interesting.
A function called KCMF (Kawasaki Cornering Management Function) is particularly new. Behind this lies a comprehensive engine and chassis management package. KMCF uses feedback from a compact IMU from Bosch and monitors engine and chassis parameters throughout the curve – from the entrance to the vertex and exit – modulating braking power and engine performance to enable a balanced transition from acceleration to braking and re-acceleration, and to help drivers keep their lane in the curve. With the Versys 1000, KCMF monitors the following systems:
- KECS (only on the SE)
- KIBS (including inclination and corner brake control)
An electronic chassis is also available for the SE. KECS (Kawasaki Electronic Control Suspension) (SE) is called. The KECS adapts to road and driving conditions in real time, providing the ideal cushioning, according to Kawasaki. By combining mechanical components with modern electronics, KECS offers better handling in various road driving situations as well as the necessary harder cushioning for sporty driving. Depending on the setting, KECS also adjusts the spring base of the rear shock absorber to fit. Drivers can choose between three modes (each with a possible setting of +5/-5):
- Drivers only
- Driver with luggage
- Driver with passenger and luggage
