Triumph and Breitling launch two new top models in 2022

 

Precision, quality, style and innovation – these are the cornerstones that connect both companies. The Breitling brand has played an important pioneering role in the development of the modern chronograph, while TRIUMPH has been instrumental in shaping the history and development of the motorcycle.

 

The new partnership between these two heritage brands is based on this heritage and a passion for technical excellence, performance and beauty. The start of joint projects is marked by a motorcycle and a watch, which show the pursuit of groundbreaking and unmistakable design and at the same time score points with precision craftsmanship.

Inspired by the blue TRIUMPH Thunderbird 6T, which made Marlon Brando immortal in the cult film "The Wild One" from 1953, the Speed Twin of the Breitling Edition comes in a beautiful "Polychromatic Blue" design. This makes it a perfect match for the blue and black dial of the Breitling Chronometer in the TRIUMPH Edition.

 
The colour was developed with the help of a spectrograph based on an original TRIUMPH factory sample book from the 1950s and a new colour chip from the original Thunderbird paintwork. The "Polychromatic Blue" for the special series was specially mixed and painted by hand in the TRIUMPH Paintshop, masked and finally provided with a matching stripe in Jet Black including Breitling lettering. Hand-painted details by TRIUMPH lacquer professional Gary Devine further enhance the Limited Edition. The side covers and the headlight housing in black give the design the finishing touch.

Premium Equipment
The special edition relies on particularly noble, fully adjustable Öhlins struts with reservoirs and glossy black painted springs. In addition, it comes with all the upgrades of the latest Speed Twin generation such as even higher quality brakes, suspension and tires, comprehensively improved technology as well as even stronger design and finer details.

Unique details on the engine
The Speed Twin in limited Breitling Edition also scores with clutch and alternator decorations made of milled aluminum with a subtle dark anodization. The Breitling branding specially manufactured for this edition model also ensures unmistakable exclusivity.

Exclusive seat made of high-quality leather
The elegant Speed Twin comes with a black perforated leather seat and grey contrasting stitching. Matching the watch strap of the Breitling edition, it also has padded, ribbed details as well as black individual seams and an elegant, embroidered Breitling "B" as a distinguishing feature.

Developed in collaboration with Breitling, the motorcycle is equipped with unique instruments designed on the dial of the Breitling Top Time TRIUMPH chronograph.

The number of 270 units is a tribute to the famous 270-degree parallel twin engine of the Speed Twin. All buyers of the Speed Twin Breitling Limited Edition also have the unique opportunity (on request until August 22, 2022, first owner only) to purchase a limited edition Breitling Top Time TRIUMPH chronograph with an individual edition number – matching the serial number of the motorcycle.

Stylish design details
In the mid-1960s, inspired by racing and café racer culture, Willy Breitling set out to capture the fast-paced style of the time with a completely new interpretation of the timepiece. The result was the Breitling Top Time, an unconventional chronograph that quickly became the watch of choice for a sporty avant-garde of men and women equally attracted to the watch's elegant proportions.

 
The spirit of that time is now returning: The Breitling Top Time TRIUMPH chronograph will be available in two variants – one of which is reserved especially for buyers of a Speed Twin Breitling Limited Edition. The "Standard Edition" has an opalescent, vertically brushed dial, the "Owners-Only version" has a shiny dial with sunburst finish. Speed Twin Breitling Limited Edition owners who order their watch from Breitling by August 22, 2022 will have the exclusive opportunity to receive this made-to-order watch with the engraving of their individual motorcycle number.

 
The highlights of both watches are the ice-blue dials. This color is reminiscent of both the "Polychromatic Blue" of the TRIUMPH Thunderbird 6T from 1951, as well as a rare Breitling Top Time with blue dial (reference 815) from the 1970s.

 
The calfskin strap in racing style accentuates the dial particularly well. The logos of Breitling and TRIUMPH can be discreetly seen at the 12 o'clock and 6 o'clock digits. Large mushroom push buttons allow easy control of the chronograph's stop/start and reset functions. The high-contrast tachymeter scale ensures clear readability of speed measurements. The watches are powered by the Breitling calibre 23, a COSC-certified chronometer with a power reserve of around 48 hours.

 
Another feature that will delight collectors: a detailed design sketch of the iconic TRIUMPH parallel twin engine can be seen on the case backs of the watches. The position of this sketch is chosen very deliberately. Like the many details on the motorcycles, which require a good knowledge of the technology, it is only visible to the trained eye of real watch fans.

 
The new Speed Twin Breitling Limited Edition will be available at TRIUMPH dealers from June 2022. The price of the new special model is 18,250 euros (plus ancillary costs) in Germany and 20,400 euros in Austria (including ancillary costs and NOVA).
