Sure, you want to drive rather than clean. From this point of view, now would be the perfect time to make up for what has been missed and to fill the forced break with meaningful employment therapy. Louis has a few recommendations.Let's start with the personal protective equipment:
Wash and impregnate textile clothing: Waterproof jackets and trousers with a climate membrane are among the best ideas since the invention of the motorcycle. However, these things need regular care because dust particles and welding residues add to the pores of the membranes. With the desired breathability, it is not far away. Conventional detergents unfortunately have the same effect.
The function of the membrane can be perfected by a thorough impregnation of the outer fabric with impregnation spray. As a result, dirt particles do not find support and water drops do not penetrate the tissue in the first place. The membrane stays clean for longer and the clumsy feeling caused by evaporative cold is no longer an issue.
Care for leather: Leather is a natural material and needs special attention. This is not just about the removal of dust and insect residues, which by the way works most gently with special cleaners. Especially important for a long lifespan of leather is the subsequent treatment with leather grease, for example with the Effax leather balm or the product of the same name from S100. This keeps the leather supple and insensitive to moisture.
Unlined gloves can also be freed from aggressive sweat residues with warm water and some soap. And after drying, grease from the inside: Simply rub your hands with a little leather grease and put on the gloves.
Helmet care: The helmet is the most important part of our protective equipment, always with us and taken accordingly hard. Sweat, dust, sunscreen, insect residues – the mixture that settles into the upholstery over time is not necessarily appetizing. Louis recommends helmet upholstery cleaners for both simple and effective cleaning.
At least as hard is the visor required. Even with the best care, helmet visors are wear parts that get more and more scratches over time. That's why Louis has suitable replacement visors in the range for almost all helmets.
