Elite excavators combine eye-catching style with elegance and reliability
Indian Motorcycle, America's First Motorcycle Company, today unveiled two new limited edition excavators in its elite class. In a limited edition and with a special, custom-inspired design, the Indian Challenger Elite 2022 and Indian Chieftain Elite 2022 stand for ultimate style and exclusivity.
"Custom design ex works, absolute premium equipment, first-class assistance systems – we turned every stone in the development of our new Elite excavators," says Aaron Jax, Vice President of Indian Motorcycle. "Whether you prefer the liquid-cooled power and performance of the Indian Challenger or the archaic bollers and unmatched performance of the air-cooled Chieftain, both elites stand out with beautiful custom bike design elements."
Indian Challenger Elite
Of the 200 examples of the Indian Challenger Elite worldwide, only 25 will come to Europe. Their muscle car-inspired styling is eye-catching, and best-in-class performance provides unique pull-through. The fact that the driving experience is also incomparable is guaranteed by the first-class equipment and state-of-the-art technology for optimal driving behaviour – regardless of whether you are driving through the city or on a long tour.
Muscle Car-inspired styling
The livery of the Challenger Elite in Stealth Gray and Black Metallic with Indy Red accents is American Muscle in its purest form. A red quilted seat and colour-coordinated elite badges complete the design.
Best-in-class performance
At the heart of the Indian Challenger Elite is the liquid-cooled 1768 cc (108 ci) PowerPlus engine. With best-in-class 122 hp and 178 Nm of torque, the Indian Challenger Elite delivers incredible V-twin performance with superior pulling power.
The three riding modes Rain, Standard and Sport make it possible to adjust the response individually – resulting in a motorcycle with three different performance characteristics. Each driving mode has its own traction control setting, tailored to the specific throttle mapping.
Premium equipment & driving optimising technology
With a wealth of comfort features and advanced technology for optimal driving characteristics, hundreds of kilometres per day can easily be covered. The electronically adjustable preload of the Fox® rear suspension makes it easy to adjust the bike for additional load or riding in pairs, while the intuitive Smart Lean Technology ensures the necessary grip at all times.
Thanks to backlit switches, the controls of the bike can be clearly seen even at night, while an adaptive LED headlight together with the LED driving lights illuminate the road excellently, as the adaptive headlight adjusts the light distribution depending on the angle of inclination of the bike. In addition, an adjustable windscreen, running boards and heated handles contribute to the most comfortable driving experience.
For crystal-clear sound quality at any speed, the revamped, fully integrated 400-watt PowerBand audio system with speakers in the side cases. The industry-leading seven-inch touchscreen display with RIDE COMMAND features Apple CarPlay® and GPS with turn-by-turn navigation*. The standard equipment of the Indian Challenger Elite includes ABS, keyless ignition, tyre pressure monitoring as well as weatherproof and remotely lockable side cases with over 68 litres of storage space.
Chieftain Elite
The 2022 Chieftain Elite is designed for very demanding riders who want only the best of the best. It combines an extraordinary design with noble custom parts ex works. Of the 150 units produced, only 20 will be available in Europe. The Chieftain Elite is truly highly exclusive.
Custom-inspired style
The Chieftain Elite's exceptional Heavy Metal Smoke livery is complemented by high-quality bronze accents, including the lifting on the tank, side case closures, centre console, primary cover and airbox. Oil-polished bronze surfaces on the engine's pushrod tubes, horn cover and camshaft cover take the style of the Chieftain Elite to a whole new level right out of the box.
The trimmed fairing of the Chieftain Elite and the special side cases with sharp lines and clear edges contribute to the aggressive appearance of the motorcycle. LED lights on the suitcases, a comfort seat for two people, the deep chassis, precision-machined wheels and high-quality, blackened surfaces complete the sensational style of the Chieftain Elite.
Unmatched Air-Cooled Performance
Equipped with Indian Motorcycle's most powerful air-cooled engine, the Thunderstroke 116, the Chieftain Elite delivers 171 Nm of torque – the best performance in its class. The rear cylinder deactivation improves driver comfort when driving at low speed, while the three selectable driving modes Tour, Standard and Sport make it possible to adapt the responsiveness to the individual driving style.
Premium equipment & driving optimising technology
Standard equipment on the 2022 Chieftain Elite includes premium features such as the adaptive Pathfinder LED headlight, an adjustable and tinted windshield, spacious aluminum Select floorboards, LED lights in the rear cases, backlit switches and an integrated 400-watt PowerBand audio system. Like the Indian Challenger Elite, the Chieftain Elite features the 7-inch touchscreen display with RIDE COMMAND, Apple CarPlay® and GPS with navigation*. Standard equipment includes ABS, keyless ignition, tyre pressure monitoring and weatherproof and remote-lockable side cases with more than 68 litres of storage space.
For the Indian Challenger Elite and Chieftain Elite, a wide range of style, comfort and touring accessories upgrades are available, allowing the bikes to be further adapted to personal preferences. Indian Challenger Elite riders can customize the rear with the Pathfinder LED side case lights, while Chieftain Elite riders can provide even more light in the front with the Pathfinder S LED driving lights. Comfort can be taken to a new level with the heated and cooled ClimaCommand double seat with individual control for driver and front passenger, and the versatile Spirit Lake luggage collection, colour-coordinated lower panels, colour-coordinated top cases and the PowerBand audio system up to 800 watts are available for both models.
