This Honda acts as an entry-level bike for adventure enthusiasts. Can this go well? With only 55 hp on a big ride? A used copy underwent our test.
Well it stands there, the Honda NC 750 X from Motofun in Kaltenkirchen. She is only one year old and has only 4,300 kilometers down. Not much for every bike, since the good condition is no wonder. With 6,250 euros and a one-year warranty, she rolls to the new owner, and now she is on the price list with just under 8,000 euros.
The NC has been built since 2015 and, as I said, is the entry-level bike in this area. A modern styled also, which expressly dispenses with the harcore look of KTM or Ducati.
Otherwise, she has everything that distinguishes an adventure bike. Recordings for the luggage cases, the larger windshield and the high seating position are standard with these bikes. What's more: The tank is not where you suspect it to be, but at the back under the seat. The "tank" in front of the driver, on the other hand, can be opened and releases a 22-litre additional luggage compartment. This is almost as practical as a scooter.
Then sit on it. At least 830 millimetres of seat height has to be climbed, but this does not cause any problems with the 1.84 metre-tall Dietmar. The handlebars are quite wide as usual in this class. As standard, the Honda NC 750 X features a colour display that is easy to read from night.
A row twin with 55 hp is responsible for the drivage. Yes, and even this one provides a slightly rougher run and sound with the unusual lifting pin offset (gradually I think it is now standard). One wonders at some point, of course, why the manufacturers always imitate the V2, but hardly build it themselves?
55 hp are not exactly the world. But as is so often the case, it depends on the way of looking at it. 55 hp is enough in this machine to circumnavigate the world perhaps not in 80 days, but at all. The torque of the large engine with the gentle power output is 68 Newton at 4,750 rpm. This engine not only comes from below, it has no other choice: the red area starts at 6,500 revolutions.
For the fact that he has to push at least 220 kilos (maximum 429 kilos) forward without a driver, he does his thing very well. It goes fast, but measured, a racer is not the NC anyway. It is economical: with 3.5 litres from the 14.1 litre vessel, the range is good.
The chassis supports the whole thing with a lot of comfort, but above all with an unusual manoeuvrability. Adventures are not generally considered likeselflink, but the Honda NC 750 X goes in that direction. With the very upright sitting position, you have the vehicle under full control at all times. Overall, the Honda feels much smaller and lighter than it really is. The brakes with standard ABS can also convince. Although the hand power is slightly increased, despite the single disc in front, the brakes bring ross and rider to a safe stop.
What else could be done: Invest in a larger disc. The windscreen is okay, but nothing more. This would greatly increase long-distance suitability.
Overall, this Honda is a surprise. We wouldn't have thought that the combination of the comparatively low-performance engine and the large adventure body would bring so much driving fun.
Practically, the Honda is almost nothing to blame except for the windshield, it is just through and through a Honda. Because let's go and have a good trip!
