A bicycle, often called as a cycle or a bike a vehicle with two wheels attached to a frame. It is driven not by motor but by humans when they drive the pedals. The history of bicycle dates back to the 19th century and now it is counted in billions in this world. Bicycles are still considered to be the primary source of transportation in many areas still today. It can be used for a variety of purposes apart from transportation.
For instance, bicycles are used in sport events. It is also used as a fitness machine. In many countries, bicycles are still used for courier services and so on. In short, bicycle is far more than just a transportation option. There are many types of bicycles like mountain bikes, touring bikes, road bikes, cruiser bikes, racing bikes etc. All bikes share many common parts. A common bicycle has got the following parts:

A Look into the History of Bicycles
Bicycles have evolved over the past few decades and its shapes and designs keep on changing depending upon the requirements of the riders. The first model, also called as the chain-driven model was introduced in 1885. Since then, it kept on evolving and improving offering various types of cycling. After its invention, many innovations were made and the yeaer 1890 is still considered to be the Golden age of the bicycles. Soon coaster brakes, gears and cable-pull brakes were developed during 1898. With its popularity amongst the younger generation, cycling clubs started to make their mark.
What are the Major uses of a Bicycle?
Bicycles, as mentioned earlier, can be used for a variety of purposes. Some of the most common purposes of using a bicycle are:
- Work: for courier services, mail deliveries etc.
- Recreation: can be used to gain physical fitness, mountain biking, hiking etc.
- Utility: such as utility cycling.
- Military purposes: bicycles are also used for scouting in many regions. It is also used for patrolling, troop movement etc.
