Royal Enfield has unveiled the highly anticipated new Royal Enfield Classic 650 at the EICMA 2024 motorcycle show in Milan. The new Classic 650 is a true masterpiece from Royal Enfield's portfolio – a larger version of the legendary Classic of yesteryear, in line with the design philosophy of its model family. The Classic represents the purest form of a Royal Enfield, unadulterated by any evolution. Not only has it been the foundation of several other Royal Enfields, but it is also a machine with unmistakable pedigrees, timeless elegance, old-world charm and an unwavering character all its own. With its individual craftsmanship, the Classic has always embodied the traditional principles of design, aesthetics and technology in vehicle construction.
The new Classic 650 stands for the unmistakable spirit of the entire model family – and that in double measure. Its stately, streamlined shape is powered by Royal Enfield's acclaimed 650 twin engine, offering a ride that is as sporty as it is appealing. In keeping with the typical features of its model family, the Classic 650 offers a powerful new blend of old-school aesthetics and effortless power delivery. It looks imposing, but is very pleasant to drive – unmistakably a classic that has remained true to its origins through and through.
Commenting on the launch of the Classic 650, B Govindarajan, CEO of Royal Enfield, said:
"The Classic is inextricably linked to our philosophy of 'Pure Motorcycling'. The new Classic 650 also adheres to this philosophy, but embodies it in double measure with our first-class 650 twin engine. We have remained true to the purpose and character of the Classic, retaining its unique style, design and elegance. Thanks to outstanding craftsmanship, an impressive road presence and the optimised powertrain, it is sure to be very well received."Royal Enfield Classic 650 in the "Black Chrome" variant
Twice as much charm
As the basis for many Royal Enfield models, the Classic combines the historic heritage and inspiration that characterises the typical design of a Royal Enfield – and this is essentially true of the new Classic 650 as well. It continues that legacy, reflecting many of the familiar signature design elements that associate it with its predecessors. It features the iconic frame shape that it shares with all previous variants, from the OG Classic and Thunderbird to the newer Super Meteor and Shotgun models. But the Classic 650 has much more to offer.
With its fluid lines, signature design features and many luxurious details that exude both class and authenticity, the Classic 650, designed with great attention to detail, embodies the spirit of Royal Enfield's long history. The beautifully sculpted tank, vintage-style round headlights and elegantly curved fenders pay homage to the Classic's heritage.
Twice as much power
The Classic 650 is powered by the globally acclaimed 648 cc parallel-twin engine, which can be found in this motorcycle for the first time in a revised form. It offers strong acceleration in the lower rev range and exceptional responsiveness – but it also shows calmness
and serenity that are so typical of the Classic. Thanks to its unparalleled performance, it makes the Classic 650 the ideal motorcycle for those who value power and sovereignty, comfort and control on every ride.
Optimized shifting and a balanced frame ensure superior stability and an improved riding experience – even on uneven surfaces. The 650 twin engine is known for strong acceleration in the lower speed range, making it ideal for fast driving manoeuvres and safe overtaking. Even at low revs, it delivers plenty of torque and superior power delivery without having to push it too hard. The engine is extremely relaxed and refined, with minimal vibrations even at higher speeds. Its responsiveness and balanced response ensure a lot of driving pleasure and a pleasant ride at all times.

Twice as much character
While the Classic 650 is similar to its predecessors in many ways, it is still completely modern and unique. The design and appearance of the motorcycle have been adapted to the lines and shapes of the engine that powers it. The Classic 650 has shorter, sporty mudguards and forward-leaning proportions that follow the forward-leaning two-cylinder engine. This gives the machine an incredibly dynamic look. More modern, wider tyres also contribute to its capability, and the consistently larger shaping gives it a presence befitting its more powerful engine.
The new Classic 650 has the same proven frame as the Super Meteor and the Shotgun 650. The double seat is standard equipment, but if necessary, the pillion seat and luggage rack can be easily removed with the help of an uncomplicated screw mechanism. With its chrome-plated aluminium headlight and turn signal housings, the Classic 650 features the distinctive post-war British motorcycle design. Flowing lines from the front to the rear emphasise the visual harmony. The distinctive teardrop-shaped tank and the characteristic Royal Enfield headlight housing, which houses a new LED headlight as well as the characteristic auxiliary lights – also known as "tiger lamps" – have been a constant feature of many Royal Enfields since 1954.
The ergonomic riding position with perfectly placed handlebars and a wide, softly padded seat ensures a high level of comfort even on long rides. Showa's front and rear suspension are tuned for a refined ride to effortlessly smooth out bumps in the road. The responsive handling ensures agility in city traffic and a confident ride on the highway.
The clear cockpit includes a digital LCD display with odometer, trip meter, fuel gauge, service reminder, gear indicator and clock. So you can concentrate fully on the ride and enjoy it to the fullest. In addition, original accessories are available in Classic and Classic Tourer style, which can be used to personalise the machine for an even more personalised riding experience. Overall, the Classic 650 embodies the everlasting charm of motorcycling combined with modern precision and contemporary comfort.

The finishes of the Royal Enfield Classic 650 are reminiscent of the popular colours of the Classic 500, but in a fresh, new interpretation. The available Vallam Red, Teal and Black Chrome options masterfully highlight the fluid, elegant lines and classic contours of the motorcycle.
