We already know the engine of the new Tracer 9 from the new MT-09, which has also been announced for 2021. It has a displacement of 889 cc and has a maximum torque of 93 Nm at 7,000 rpm for the Tracer 9. The maximum power is 119 hp. The Tracer 9 also gets the new 6-axis IMU, which enables features such as slant-dependent traction control, curve ABS and even a wheelie control (front wheel lift system VLS). Also on board are ride-by-wire and four driving modes. Only the Tracer 9 GT gets a Quickshifter.

The Tracer 9 gets LED light all around incl. the blinker. The cladding has also been changed and now looks much more modern. The cockpit consists of two 3.5 inch TFT colour displays (see picture gallery). The left screen displays information such as speed, fuel level, the inputiated gear, and a rev counter that changes in color. The right display is divided into four sections and maps, among other things, odometers, daily kilometers and temperature.

The seating position can be adapted to your personal preferences thanks to individual adjustment options. In the basic setup, the newly developed driver's seat is 15 mm lower than before. It has a height adjuster that allows the seat to be adjusted easily and without tools in two positions. Further changes to the ergonomics can be made by adjusting the footrests up or down by 15mm. In addition, by turning the handlebars, the position of the handlebars can be changed by 9mm forward and 4mm upwards. In addition, the disc can be adjusted in 10 steps and thus increased by a total of 50 mm.

The Tracer 9 GT comes standard with hard case cases. The suitcases offer space for a helmet and are attached to the frame by a floating support system, which absorbs unrest and thus ensures optimal handling. Yamaha and KYB jointly developed an electronically controlled semi-active suspension system for the TRACER 9 GT. This sophisticated chassis can react immediately to different driving conditions and thus ensures the optimal driving experience.

The use of this semi-active suspension system is made possible by the new IMU of the motorcycle, which works together with the ECU, the hydraulic unit and a control unit of the chassis. The system can make extremely fast adjustments to the attenuation settings and handle both minor and larger changes.

Compared to the nomal Tracer 9, the Tracer 9 is equipped with a curved light system that is programmed to illuminate the road when the IMU detects that the machine is tilting by more than 7° and the speed is at least 5 km/h. An essential feature of this system is that the real-time data of the IMU increases the brightness of the cornering light with increasing inclination, which allows the driver the optimal visibility when driving at night.
