The lightest Panigale and Streetfighter ever!
Panigale V2
The Ducati Panigale V2 marks an epochal change in the history of two-cylinder sports motorcycles from Borgo Panigale, as it was developed from scratch and is not just based on a smaller displacement engine. It is a motorcycle that takes up the tradition of cult models such as the 748, the 848 and the 959, whose sporty flair it retains but is easy to ride and offers great fun to ride on the road.
The new two-cylinder Panigale is a completely redesigned motorcycle that becomes the lightest Panigale ever, also thanks to the new 90° V2 engine and the monocoque frame (weighing only 4 kg): in fact, in the S version, it is 17 kg lighter than the previous model.
Lightness, intuitiveness, reduced physical and mental effort, generous power delivery at low revs with a sporty character at high revs, style and high-quality technical equipment worthy of a true Ducati: these are the main features of the new Panigale V2.
Family feeling
The design of the new Panigale V2 is inspired by the recently launched Panigale V4, with features that translate the complex surfaces of its fairing into taut and clean lines, defining an aggressive yet elegant sports bike. Inside the fairing, a passive ventilation system ensures that fresh air is supplied to the driver and the hot air from the radiator is directed away from him.
The front is characterized by a clear reference to the Panigale V4. It features the full LED headlight with dual daytime running lights, which gives it the same assertive and determined "look". The lower area is also framed by lacquered surfaces, one of the new stylistic features of the Panigale family. The design of the new fuel tank is specially designed to support the driver in a sporty driving style. It is based on the shape of the new Panigale V4 and has been adapted to perfectly match the new mechanical base as well as the changed ergonomics. The ergonomics have been developed to reduce stress on the wrists while maintaining the excellent feel for the front end when cornering.
The rear is completely covered, as with the Desmosedici from MotoGP. The seat and rear merge into a single component. The full LED rear light consists of two parts, in keeping with the tradition of Ducati sports motorcycles. The exhaust, which ends in silencers under the seat, is a reminder of the racing tradition of the Panigale and underlines the sporty soul of the motorcycle.
The design of the new 6-spoke alloy wheels in the "Y" design, arranged in three groups, is a modern reinterpretation of the iconic Marchesini three-spoke look. The black of the wheels underlines the red full fairing of the Ducati.
Sporty performance on the racetrack and pure driving pleasure on the road
During development tests on the track, the new Panigale V2 achieved a level of performance equivalent to that of the previous model. This is due to the weight reduction of 17 kg, a light and modern chassis, new ergonomics, a high-torque engine and improved rideability that is not comparable to that of the previous V2 model. On the new Panigale V2, the rider feels comfortable from the first corner and can reach his limits more easily thanks to the reduced effort required while riding.
On the road, however, the new Panigale V2 proves to be the simplest and most enjoyable Ducati sports bike ever. Thanks to a seating position that puts less strain on the front, easy handling and thermal comfort, driving pleasure is taken to a new level. In addition, the new V2 engine is capable of providing great emotions between corners, making the Panigale V2 a truly enjoyable motorcycle.
Streetfighter V2
Ducati has transferred the Fight Formula from the new Panigale to the lightest Streetfighter ever: an exciting naked bike on the road and a high-performance motorcycle on the track. The formula is simple: 890 cc engine, Panigale V2 suspension, 175 kg weight, wide and high handlebars and no fairing.
The new V2 is the lightest streetfighter ever developed by Ducati (18 kg lighter than the previous model). The large weight savings were made possible by the new monocoque frame, the improved chassis and the new, modern and efficient 90° V2 engine. The result is a motorcycle that is very agile and at the same time stable and confidently rides at high speeds. On the track, the bike is as fast as the previous version, but on the road and in everyday life it is much more pleasant and more fun to ride.
More intuitive to drive, lively and exciting thanks to the lightness and torque of the V2, which gives the driver a great feeling from the first contact, the new Streetfighter remains as true to the spirit of the original as ever.
Unmistakably Streetfighter
The design of the new V2 picks up on the typical stylistic features of the Streetfighter family, dispensing with the fairing and thus emphasizing the mechanical basis of the super sports car from which it is derived. The masses are concentrated on the front, which conveys strength and dynamism. In addition, the compactness of the new V2 engine is underlined. The "look" of the front, sharp and menacing, characterized by the full LED headlights and the daytime running lights, has a great recognition value.
The fuel tank, fully faired seat/rear unit and alloy wheels are the same as the Panigale V2. A solution that underlines the sporty spirit of the Streetfighter V2 and maintains the references to Ducati's racing tradition.
New V2 engine
The Panigale V2 and Streetfighter V2 are equipped with the new 90° V2 engine with variable intake valve timing, which is Euro5+ approved and produces 890 cc and 120 hp. Its weight of only 54.4 kg (-9.4 kg compared to its predecessor, the Superquadro) makes it the lightest twin-cylinder ever produced by Ducati. Its torque curve, where 70% of the maximum value is already available at 3,000 rpm, ensures great driving pleasure on the road. Those who want to use the new V2 models on the race track can mount the racing exhaust system, which increases the maximum power to 126. The weight is reduced by 4.5 kilograms with this exhaust.
All this makes both the Panigale and the Streetfighter V2 pleasant and fun motorcycles designed for sporty riding, especially thanks to a weight of only 176 and 175 kg respectively (in running order without fuel). These values in combination with the power of 120 hp result in a power-to-weight ratio of 0.68 hp/kg for both. There are 3 power modes available for the Panigale and Streetfighter V2: High, Medium and Low (95 hp). In addition, both motorcycles are available in a 35 kW version. All details about the new engine can be found in the press kit.
Benchmark suspension
The frame of the new V2 is a lightweight and efficient monocoque that uses the engine as a load-bearing element. The double-sided swingarm is inspired by the design of the Panigale V4's Hollow Symmetrical swingarm and offers the same benefits in terms of corner-exit stability and track feel, where it allows the rider to make the most of the potential of modern slick tyres.
The suspension elements are fully adjustable, allowing the rider to customise the settings of the new Ducati sports bike. The Panigale V2 and Streetfighter V2 are equipped with Marzocchi forks and Kayaba struts, while the V2 S versions offer the rider Öhlins forks and struts, as well as a lithium-ion battery that reduces weight.
To ensure stability when cornering and at high speed without fairing, the Streetfighter V2 has a 30 mm longer swingarm than the Panigale V2 and a Sachs steering damper as standard.
The new cast wheels are fitted with Pirelli Diablo Rosso IV tyres in sizes 120/70 and 190/55, which combine good handling and a large contact patch, enhancing the sporty qualities of the two models. The Brembo front brake system consists of two 320 mm discs and M50 monobloc calipers, which provide strong braking power for use on the track and good modulation when driving on the road.
Benchmark Electronics
The Panigale V2 and Streetfighter V2 are equipped with a six-axis IMU inertial platform that supports a complete and efficient electronics package to provide road safety and track performance. The electronics package includes sporty cornering ABS with slide-by-brake function, Ducati Traction Control, Ducati Wheelie Control, Engine Brake Control and the new Ducati Quick Shift 2.0, the same system as the Panigale V4, which is standard on both versions.
The rider can instantly change the character of the bike by choosing between 4 Riding Modes (Race, Sport, Road, Wet), which offer pre-configured and customizable levels of intervention for all control strategies and engine responsiveness. In this way, it is possible to adapt the Panigale V2 and Streetfighter V2 to the rider's preferences and to the different riding situations with a simple push of a button.
The cockpit consists of a new 5-inch TFT display with an info-modes-based user interface, conceptually derived from the system of the new Panigale V4. The three views "Road", "Road Pro" and "Track" are designed to allow the driver to concentrate on driving by highlighting the most important information with a rational and comprehensive display, depending on the area of application.
The format of the ads has been streamlined by integrating the information as much as possible to reduce their density and thus improve readability. The rev counter, for example, also functions as a shift indicator. It lights up green at the perfect time to upshift and changes to red when the revs are too high.
Accessories
The new Panigale V2 and Streetfighter V2 are available in a range of accessories to enhance their performance on the track or make them more versatile for road use. There is a special track package for the Panigale, consisting of a racing fairing, a racing exhaust, an Öhlins steering damper, adjustable footpegs with carbon heel guards, a lower handlebar, protective covers for the clutch and alternator covers, and covers for the mirrors and license plate holder. Each component can also be purchased separately.
The Lap Timer Pro, in combination with the Info Mode Track, displays the driver's lap times, split times and performance improvements in real time.
If you want to enjoy the new Panigale V2 on the road to the fullest, you can retrofit cruise control, turn-by-turn navigation, USB socket to power a smartphone and the TPMS tire pressure sensors.
