With the eighth episode of DWP 2025, Ducati presents at Intermot in Cologne the new Multistrada V2, the mid-range crossover bike for lovers of the two-cylinder engine, which has been significantly improved with the 2025 model in terms of lightness, handling and riding comfort. The new Multistrada V2 retains the 19-inch front wheel to keep you safe on even the toughest adventures. The bike has been completely redesigned around the new V2 engine to become even more accessible while offering even more riding pleasure.
Maximum lightweight construction was of great importance in this project. The new monocoque frame and the new Ducati V2 engine allow a weight saving of an impressive 18 kg compared to the previous model . Its 199 kg in running order without fuel represents the lowest value in this segment, which benefits handling and facilitates manoeuvres from a standstill. Even with a load, the motorcycle is very stable at low speeds. Its low weight combined with the wide and powerful rev range of the two-cylinder with variable valve timing, a trend-setting electronics package and advanced ergonomic and aerodynamic development ensure that the driving pleasure, fuel consumption, performance and handling of the new Multistrada V2 make every journey an unforgettable experience.
Design
The design of the new Multistrada V2 is inspired by the stylistic conceptsthat have marked the history of the Multistrada family : horizontally balanced volumes, with a delicate and short rear end and a front end characterized by sporty lines, further accentuated thanks to the side panels. The pronounced shoulders, the front masses and the "beak" - historically characteristic features of the Multistrada - were more harmoniously connected.
Like all Ducatis, the Multistrada V2 combines design and functionality. The Centro Stile Ducati has defined its lines in close collaboration with the R&D technicians to integrate aerodynamic solutions into the design that improve thermal comfort and protection from the elements.
The windscreen, which offers a high level of protection and is adjustable in height, has been defined by careful aerodynamic studies, which also include the wind deflectors perfectly integrated into the front end.
For thermal comfort, as with the Multistrada V4, side air ducts have been developed that are integrated into the design of the motorcycle, directing fresh air to the rider's legs.
The new headlights and taillight are inspired by the last generation of the Panigale and the Multistrada V4 and contribute to a compact and aggressive front view that is immediately recognizable. The shorter "beak" is well integrated into the front with the new windscreen and creates a more harmonious picture. The indicators, which are very narrow and blend harmoniously with the design of the side panels, have been completely redesigned and repositioned to ensure optimal visibility and create a gap to the fairing that allows fresh air to pass through to the rider.
The rear is very slim and light, thanks to a shorter rear grab handle that has been completely redesigned to ensure high functionality and ergonomics.
Ergonomics and comfort
The ergonomics of the Multistrada V2 have been completely revised, with a focus on comfort. The rider and pillion seats are completely new compared to the previous model. Thanks to the rear-facing attachment of the top case and side cases, the space available for the pillion passenger has been significantly improved in terms of legroom and torso room compared to the previous model.
To ensure that the rider can rest his feet safely on the ground, the new Multistrada V2 is equipped with a seat with a height of 850 and 830 mm that can be adjusted in two positions . In addition, the Ducati Performance catalogue offers an accessory seat raised to 870 mm and a lowered seat to 810 mm, while the S version allows the bike to be lowered to 790 mm with a low accessory seat and the lowering kit.
New Ducati V2 engine
The new Multistrada V2 is equipped with the new Ducati V2 engine , a 90° V-twin engine with 890 cc displacement, variable intake valve timing IVT and valve springs. This new, extremely compact and lightweight engine - it weighs only 54.9 kg - makes an important contribution to reducing the weight of the motorcycle. In this configuration, it delivers 115 hp at 10,750 rpm and 92 Nm of torque at 8,250 rpm.
Thanks to the variable valve timing, the V2 engine optimises performance, responsiveness and fuel consumption. High-speed power is combined with sustained torque delivery at low and medium speeds: More than 70% of the maximum torque is already available at 3,500 rpm. Between 3,500 and 11,000 rpm, the value never drops below 75%. In addition, there is a smoother combustion at low revs, which allows for a very smooth throttle response with a low throttle opening . The larger flywheel, which provides more riding pleasure, especially on tours or in traffic, enables a smoother response.
Finally, the gear ratios have been developed specifically for the Multistrada, with a shorter first and second gear to improve usability at low speeds and acceleration under full load. The gearbox is equipped with the new Ducati Quick Shift 2.0, which allows for a more precise feel on the gear lever and faster gear changes.
Completely revised chassis
To improve comfort and riding pleasure on any track, the new Multistrada V2 is equipped with a completely redesigned frame, rear subframe and swingarm, which follow the same design philosophy as the Multistrada V4. The aluminum monocoque uses the engine as a load-bearing element, the rear subframe consists of a tubular space construction and the swingarm is cast from aluminum. Combined with the new V2 engine, this allows for an extremely low weight: only 199 kg in running order without fuel for the V2 version and 202 kg for the V2 S version with semi-active suspension.
Thanks to a complete overhaul and the solution of the monocoque frame, the engineers have managed to create a sleek motorcycle with a very narrow fit that allows the rider to put their feet on the ground more easily. In addition, the contact surface of the knees and the inside of the thighs with the surfaces of the motorcycle has been improved, which increases the fun of riding and the feeling of control at high speeds. Thanks to the new ergonomics, the new Multistrada V2 requires less effort on the handlebars to lean and guarantees a more neutral behavior when entering and cornering.
The Multistrada V2 is equipped with a Marzocchi fork with 45mm tubes and a Sachs shock absorber with progressive linkage, both fully adjustable. The Multistrada V2 S features semi-active suspension with electronically controlled Ducati Skyhook Suspension that further improves comfort, safety and performance thanks to new electronic strategies that limit anti-dive and anti-squat when accelerating, ensuring optimal riding precision.
In addition , the Minimum Preload function allows the rear suspensionto be lowered to a minimum with a simple push of a button to facilitate the contact of the feet with the ground, especially when fully loaded and with a pillion. As with the new Multistrada V4, the suspension modes can be selected independently of the riding modes to choose the preferred tuning of the suspension, while the electronic control parameters and engine response remain unchanged.
Both versions of the Multistrada V2 are equipped with a 19-inch front wheel and a 17-inch rear wheel with Pirelli Scorpion Trail II tires and 170mm of travel to provide versatility and feel. Equipped with a double 320 mm rotor at the front and a single 265 mm rotor at the rear, the Brembo brake system offers first-class deceleration in any situation.
Benchmark Electronics Package
The new Multistrada V2 features a complete electronics package that can be controlled via redesigned controls on the handlebars and the new 5-inch TFT colour display with a completely redesigned, multilingual user interface based on three different Info Modes .
The five available riding modes (Sport, Touring, Urban, Enduro and Wet) offer the possibility of adapting the Multistrada V2 to any situation by adjusting the engine power and response to pre-configured and modifiable values thanks to the four Power Modes with which the engine is equipped. Of course, the Riding Modes also set the cornering ABS, Ducati Traction Control (DTC), Ducati Wheelie Control (DWC) and Engine Brake Control (EBC) to predefined values that can be changed by the rider.
The three Info modes (Road, Road Pro and Rally) allow the driver to make the most of the display and change the information displayed to get the best driving experience in any situation: Road Pro, for example, shows the percentage of power and torque in real time.
Finally, the Ducati Multistrada V2 is equipped as standard with cruise control, a USB socket integrated into the cockpit, the Ducati Brake Light EVO (which provides an emergency flashing function in the event of sudden braking) and, in the case of the V2 S, with the Ducati Multimedia System, which offers the possibility of turn-by-turn navigation . The new Coming Home function ensures that the low beam remains on for a while, even when the ignition is switched off, to illuminate the area in front of the motorcycle and make it easier to find your way around.
Safe on the road everywhere
Like all Multistradas, the new V2 is designed so that Ducatisti can travel the world with peace of mind. This is ensured by exemplary maintenance intervals (valve clearance check every 30,000 km) and the 4EVER Ducati and Roadside Assistance programs. The former offers a 4-year warranty with unlimited mileage* . The Roadside Assistance* programme also offers roadside assistance, transport for the rider and passenger, a replacement vehicle and overnight stays in a 4-star hotel in the event of any problems that may arise during the warranty period. And all this with the security of a network of over 800 official Ducati dealers in more than 90 countries around the world.
Accessories and availability
A wide range of accessories makes it possible to adapt the Multistrada V2 to the most diverse needs. Plastic cases with a capacity of 60 liters or aluminum cases with a capacity of 76 liters are mounted on the motorcycle with floating attachments to improve stability and therefore safety. The steel guard bars help limit damage in the event of a fall, and the center stand makes maintenance and loading easier.
The more adventurous can mount spoked wheels , which make the Multistrada V2 even more versatile and allow it to continue the journey when the asphalt ends. Finally, those who want to enhance their Multistrada V2 by changing the exhaust sound can choose from the various options offered by Termignoni.
The new Multistrada V2 will be available in the standard version and as the V2 S with the semi-active DSS suspension. The first version is offered in the Ducati Red colour, while the second version allows you to choose between Storm Green and Ducati Red, with the added option of opting for the Travel trim, complete with plastic side cases, centre stand and heated handles. The new Ducati Multistrada V2 will arrive at dealerships in January 2025, also in a 35 kW version for motorcyclists with an A2 license.
