In the second half of the year, the motorcycle market in Germany begins to weaken a little. In September 2024, 9,093 motorcycles (everything except 125cc and scooters) were newly registered, compared to 11,093 in the same month last year. However, the full-year outlook is still positive.

Thanks to a strong first half of the year, 2024 still looks quite good compared to 2023 with a total of 114,736 motorcycles sold. In the same period in 2023, 112,637 motorcycles were sold. This means a cumulative increase of 1.9 percent for this year.

In terms of market shares in September, BMW's top position was once again consolidated. With just under 18%, the Bavarians are well ahead of Honda (just under 15%). They are followed by Kawasaki, Yamaha and KTM. All other manufacturers can no longer get over the 5% hurdle (see graphic above).

There are two amazing outliers in the top 50 models in September: The new Yamaha MT-09 is in 2nd place and the MV Agusta F3 Brutale 800 is even in 9th place! In the case of the MV, however, this may be due to one-day registrations on the part of the dealers - but this is only a guess.
