Graphic: Motorradtest.de Overall market weak, Ducati strong.
The IVM's figures for November 2023 show rather weak figures. After going well so far in 2023, six percent fewer motorcycles were newly registered last month than in November 2022.
The total number of newly registered bikes in November 2023 was 3,730 units. By comparison, in March 2023 there were still over 20,000 machines. At the end of the year, significantly fewer motorcycles will be newly registered, so the percentage fluctuations or changes in market shares and in the top 50 bikes are of course also higher. In addition, many dealers still carry out so-called one-day registrations at the end of the year, which also play a role in the IVM's figures - even though the machines have not yet been sold.
In any case, Ducati sold or registered a conspicuous number of V4 Multistradas in November. However, you also have to keep in mind that Ducati now offers six models of the Multistrada V4. A lot helps a lot - this seems to work at least on the Multi V4. This machine is in a very good 2nd place among the most successful bikes, just behind the BMW R 1300 GS. Accordingly, Ducati's market share also climbs to a very good eight percent in November 2023. Only Honda, BMW and KTM were better.
It will be exciting to see how the BMW R1250 GS holds up with the best-selling motorcycles. As we already suspected, it had to give up first place in the registration statistics to its successors, the R1300 GS. Nevertheless, the 1250 is still in a respectable 5th place.
