Pierer brands unintentionally with high registration figures

The November figures already made people sit up and take notice: The Pierer Group's brands were sold like hotcakes. KTM in particular, with a market share of over 13 percent, was extremely strong. This trend intensified again in December 2024: With 3,275 motorcycles sold, KTM moved ahead of BMW to number 1 in newly registered machines.

That sounds good, but it is probably due to one-day registrations and sales with strong discounts. As is well known, KTM is on high stocks - machines that have apparently been and are being pushed into the market with strong discounts.

The switch to EURO5+ is another reason for the overall very high sales in December. According to the IVM, a total of exactly 18,188 new machines were newly registered in Germany in December 2024. In contrast to December 2023, this means an increase of 628 percent !!

Without exception, all manufacturers recorded a big increase in December 2024 compared to the previous year. Whether retailers and manufacturers can really be happy about this remains to be seen - but Euro5+ makes it possible. If you look at the top 50 in December, the impression of the Pierer brands is confirmed: Among the top 6 newly registered motorcycles are five models from KTM and Husqvarna. It should be clear that this will not remain the case. The fact that the BMW R 1300 GS is in 10th place on such a list will probably not happen again. We are already looking forward to the top 50 for January 2025...
