Minus 8 percent for newly registered motorcycles

Ducati, Suzuki and others grow

The IVM figures for August 2022 are in. Overall, the market for newly registered motorcycles (everything except 125cc and scooters) is 8 percent lower than in the same month last year. Almost 10,000 bikes (9,817 units) were newly registered in August 2022. In August 2021, there were still 10,666 motorcycles.

There is also movement in terms of market shares. Ducati and Suzuki can improve and particularly impressive is the growth in sales of the "other" manufacturers (both compared to the previous year):

Royal Enfield: +11%
Husqvarna: +16.5%

Aprilia: +39.7%
Indian: +73.7%

Meanwhile, the gap between the top dog BMW and the pursuers is getting smaller and smaller. With 17.48%, BMW is just 6.91% ahead of Kawasaki with 10.57%. Taking into account the whole of 2022, BMW will have a market share of 21.56% by the end of August, followed by Honda with 11.26%. The August figures shown here should therefore be treated with caution.

Top 50 newly registered motorcycles August 2022

Among the best-selling motorcycles, the 1250 GS still ranks 1st in August, but the gap to the Kawasaki Z900 in 2nd place has never been so small. Also amazing is the Suzuki SV650 in 3rd place and the RE CLassic 350 in 5th place!
