Hardly any changes compared to the previous year

New registrations of motorcycles (everything except 125cc and scooters) in August 2024 have hardly changed compared to the previous year. According to IVM figures, exactly 11,093 motorcycles were newly registered in August 2024. Compared to 2023, this is a minus of only 0.4 percent.

In terms of market share, Honda has once again regained first place from BMW. However, with 16.4% or 1,819 newly registered aircraft, this still means a minus of 11 percent. BMW is in second place, followed by Kawasaki, Yamaha, KTM and Ducati. The largest percentage increase in new registrations in August 2024 compared to August 2023 among the top 10 manufacturers was recorded by Kawasaki with 21.1% with 1,337 new registrations.

When you look at the top 50, you rub your eyes: In 1st place is not the top dog BMW R 1300 GS, but the Kawasaki Z900! This is certainly due to the problems and recalls of the GS that manifest themselves here. The R 1250 GS in 5th place is still really strong, as is a model from GasGas, namely the SM 700 in 11th place.
