Indian: Tank cover from the artist
Photo: Indian Indian Motorcycle, America's first motorcycle manufacturer, today announced in an art exhibition that it is working with five renowned artists on a limited range of tank covers for the brand new INDIAN FTR 1200. Only 100 tank caps are produced per design. The five unique designs will be presented to the public on 13 June at Wheels & Waves in Biarritz, France.
Indian Motorcycle curated a range of artists with extremely different styles, from street graffiti to modern abstraction, to ensure a broader range of artistic expressions. The limited tank covers allow the owners of the FTR 1200 to turn their bike into a mobile work of art while increasing their personal connection to the FTR 1200.
The five artists are:
Steve Caballero - "Cab", a legendary skateboard icon and founding member of the famous Bones Brigade, has created his legacy by turning pools and halfpipes into canvases for his skate art. Over the years, he became known for his extraordinary "low-brow", hot-rod-culture-inspired original artworks. His designs are in high demand today among brands and collectors from the skate and art industry.
D*Face - D*Face (aka Dean Stockton) is a leading figure in Urban Contemporary Art and started his career on the streets more than 15 years ago. Originally, he entered the scene by drawing stickers and posters to glue London and the area beyond so they could be spotted by unsuspecting passers-by. Since then, his work has evolved, from exhibitions of the visual art gallery to large-format exterior wall installations that transform urban landscapes and skyscrapers into massive works of art.
Adam Turman - Turman is a native visionary from the backyard of Indian Motorcycle in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and is known for large-scale, vibrant and dynamic wall/wall installations throughout the Midwest. He began his art career by designing concert posters for local bands, drawing inspiration from the bold, graphic style of 80s comics and heavy metal art. Turman's strong ability to combine his bold, vibrant artistic visions with strategic marketing goals has made him one of the midwestern region's most sought-after advertising artists.
ThankYouX - ThankYouX (aka Ryan Wilson) began his artistic journey on the streets of Los Angeles by spraying stencils in honor of Andy Warhol. While these stencils were his first calling card, they only scratched the surface of his multifaceted artistic identity. With increasing popularity, the way of his expression evolved into modern abstract designs, which stand in contrast to the conventional, graffiti-inspired, street art paradigm. Its unique implementation of street art has attracted worldwide attention and recognition.
RISK - As a true "O.G." in the world of street art, RISK began his career, inspired by graffiti on the East Coast of the United States, bringing them to the urban landscapes of Los Angeles. As a founding member of the WCA (West Coast Artists) graffiti crew, RISK was one of the first in Southern California to decorate freight trains and pioneer the use of highway bridges as artistic canvases. Over several decades, his career has shifted from street to galleries, clothing lines and collections around the world.
