The first episode of the web series Ducati World Premiere 2022, the manufacturer from Borgo Panigale dedicates to the world of travel and presents the new Multistrada V2: it is the ideal motorcycle to enjoy any route, versatile in everyday life and in the city, always with the sportiness and unmistakable style of a Ducati. With the Multistrada V2 project, the Borgo Panigale company has further developed the two-cylinder of the Ducati family, creating a motorcycle for all needs that is intuitive, comfortable and accessible, without neglecting the driving pleasure.
The new Multistrada V2 is a technologically advanced motorcycle with an extremely comprehensive electronics package. The bike is the perfect entry into the touring universe of Ducati, also thanks to the introduction of the 35 kW version for the A2 driving licence category.
In the development phases of this motorcycle, the focus was on ergonomics, weight reduction, engine development and a number of detail improvements that follow the philosophy of "continuous improvement".
The design of the Multistrada V2 is elegant and sporty at the same time and follows the style and recognition value of other two-cylinder bikes from Borgo Panigale. A style characterized by flowing lines, clear shapes and the characteristic and unmistakable balance between the charismatic front and the sleek and light rear end. The Multistrada V2 also features a new, refined graphic that presents the name of the motorcycle on both sides.
The new Multistrada V2 is equipped with the latest evolution of the 937 cc Testastretta 11° engine. The desmodromic controlled engine has four valves per cylinder, is water-cooled, has an output of 113 hp and maximum torque* of 94 Nm. This two-cylinder engine delivers its power very linearly and easily dosed. In the lower speed range, it responds very gently. The engine has a constantly retrievable and powerful torque, which can release the sporty and adrenaline-pumping character typical of Ducati if necessary. The mature and robust engine continues to have long maintenance intervals with an oil change every 15,000 km and a valve clearance check every 30,000 km.
The further development of the Testastretta 11° in the new Multistrada V2 has important improvements: new connecting rods, a new 8-disc hydraulic clutch and a revised transmission that guarantees smoother and more precise shifting and also makes it easier to engage idle. The progress made in the use of the automatic shifter, whose functioning has been further improved, is even clearer.
The suspension of the motorcycle is agile and gives a familiar feeling. The 19-inch front wheel ensures smooth and comfortable handling, always with the right level of responsiveness and precision. The motorcycle is extremely versatile and is also ideal for use in the city thanks to the effectiveness of the Ducati Skyhook Suspension EVO semi-active suspension system (standard in the S version). The chassis swallows up uneven surfaces and bumps without major problems. The perfect tuning of the chassis is always guaranteed, which improves safety and comfort.
Important development work has been done on the ergonomics of the motorcycle to make it even more comfortable and intuitive, so that every rider feels comfortable in every situation. The seat height was lowered to 830 mm and the shape of the bench was redesigned. The seat is now narrower and more compact between the driver's legs, so you can easily touch the ground with your feet thanks to an inner arch of only 1,790 mm.
These changes ensure greater safety when stationary and more confidence when maneuvering at low speeds, even with pillion and full suitcases. The Ducati Performance catalogue also includes a low seat and a lowering kit. These accessories in combination allow a seat height of 790 mm.
When working on the seat, emphasis was also placed on greater driving comfort: the new shape of the bench seat offers a flat surface that guarantees the driver freedom of movement in the longitudinal direction. As a result, comfort could be improved. In addition, it is now easier for every driver to find the optimal seating position.
The new footrest system, which was taken over from the Multistrada V4, also ensures a more comfortable seating position. Thanks to a 10 mm increased distance to the seat, it also offers larger drivers enough space, prevents the legs from bending too much and thus enables a more comfortable sitting position during long journeys.
Another important area of improvement is the weight reduction of the motorcycle, which has led to a weight reduction of 5 kg compared to the Multistrada 950 by working on many elements.
The development of the engine has resulted in a saving of about 2 kg, including the clutch (1.5 kg) and its cover, the transmission drum and the connecting rod. Various parts of the vehicle have become lighter, including the mirrors derived from the Multistrada V4, the front brake discs and the rims: the new Multistrada V2 is equipped with rims derived from the Multistrada V4 and are about 1.7 kg lighter, resulting in a significant improvement in handling. Spoke wheels are also available in the Ducati Performance catalogue, which have also become significantly lighter.
The Multistrada V2 comes standard with a state-of-the-art electronics package that provides everything you need for a comfortable and safe ride. The package includes cornering ABS, which guarantees a high degree of safety when braking even when cornering. The start-up aid makes it easier to start driving on slopes. Other features include the Ducati Traction Control, the four riding modes fully configurable by the user (Sport, Touring, Urban, Enduro) and the new Ducati Brake Light System, which automatically activates the flashing of the tail light in the event of sudden braking to signal to the following traffic that the rider is decelerating strongly.
In the S version, the journey becomes a 5-star journey thanks to equipment unprecedented for the segment: electronic skyhook suspension, cruise control, full LED headlights with Ducati Cornering Lights function that optimizes the illumination of the road depending on the lean position of the motorcycle, Ducati Quick Shift when shifting up and down, Hands Free system, high-resolution 5-inch TFT color display with intuitive user interface and backlit handlebar fittings.
The color palette consists of the classic "Ducati Red" with black rims, available for both the Multistrada V2 and the Multistrada V2 S, as well as the new "Street Grey" paint finish with black frame and "GP Red" rims, which can only be ordered for the S version.
For the Multistrada V2 family, there are also two equipment variants that can be ordered directly from the factory. The Essential equipment is available for both the Multistrada V2 and the Multistrada V2 S, while the Travel equipment with side cases, heated handles and main stand can only be ordered for the S version.
The Multistrada V2 will be available from November 2021 at dealers in the Ducati network.
The Ducati Performance catalogue also includes a range of specially designed accessories that further enhance the character and qualities of the Multistrada V2.
For all models of the Multistrada family, Ducati offers the exclusive "4Ever Multistrada" warranty with a term of four years and unlimited mileage, based on the service of the entire dealer network of the bologna-based company.
