Honda's popular entry-level CB125F will get an update in 2021 and weigh 11 kg less.
Its low-friction eSP (enhanced smart power) engine significantly improves fuel consumption without salyting performance. In addition, the machine now has an ACG starter generator system. The styling of the body is based on the larger CB machines.
Features include LED headlights, main stands and a digital display with ECO meter.
Introduction
Honda's 125 is versatile, affordable and durable. It is a simple and economical means of transport to get from A to B. For many, it is also the first machine of their own.
The owner's pride is given by the exciting feeling of freedom that such a machine brings into everyday life. In addition, it is easy to trade and therefore particularly attractive for newcomers.
The CB125F makes it easy to get started in the exciting Honda world. It has always been synonymous with a robust, cost-effective and user-friendly bike. The CB125F was introduced in 2015 as the successor to the CBF125 and increased in terms of quality, ease of use and style. In 2021, the CB125F will get a complete make-over and will become even more attractive due to its very good price/performance ratio. With it, every weekend trip becomes an unforgettable trip.
Ken Tomiyasu - Head of the Major Project (LPL) 2021 CB125F:
"For us, benchmarks are important. That's why we've started a quiet revolution with the brand new CB125F. The machine retains all qualities for variable use, but consumes much less fuel.
It also offers advanced technologies such as the eSP engine, which minimizes friction inside, superior handling due to its chassis, and an exciting look. We are very proud that so many people are starting their journey into the motorcycle world together with Honda at the CB125F and are convinced that CB will give its owners both joy and benefit.
Model overview
The new CB125F is produced in south-eastern Italy at Honda's Atessa plant. Its complex development was coined with 19 patent applications.
New is e.B. the air-cooled Enhanced Smart Power (eSP) engine; this offers an improvement in fuel consumption with the same performance.
In addition, the machine is 11kg lighter, equipped with a new frame and kept in the trendy big bike style. LED headlights and a redesigned digital cockpit complement the bike perfectly.
The CB125F is available in Splendor Red, Pearl Cool White and Black.
Features
Engine
Optimum performance in urban traffic and at the same time be economical and reliable:
This is the concept of the new air-cooled SOHC single-cylinder engine with 2 valves and 124 cc displacement in EURO5 specification ("enhanced smart power").
The peak power of 10.9 hp (8kW) is delivered at 7,500 rpm, with a peak torque
of 10.9 Nm at 6,000 rpm (compared to 7.8kW at 7,750 rpm/ and 10.2 Nm at 6,250 rpm). The bore and stroke are 50 x 63.1 mm, with a compression ratio of 10.0:1.
For acceleration from a level above 200 m, the CB requires 12.4 s.
Fuel efficiency has improved significantly with a jump from 2l/100 km to 1.5l/100 km.
This allows for a potential range of more than 800 km. The size of the fuel tank is 11 liters.
Honda has used its eSP engine technology over the past 5 years for a growing portfolio
developed by 125cc scooters. Honda focuses on clean and friction-reducing technology in every area of the engine. As a result, the development of
of the eSP engine of the CB125F to a large extent from eight years of accumulated know-how.
The new eSP engine is 7 kg lighter than its predecessor and the cylinder is offset.
Friction between the piston shaft and cylinder is reduced, while the piston itself is cooled by an oil jet from below, which in turn reduces friction. Valve actuation is carried out via tilt levers, which are equipped with needle bearings.
An ALTERNating current generator (ACG) is also part of the eSP formula and combines power generation with the starter function, thus saving weight while simplifying the design of the engine. The effort required to start the motor is reduced by a swing-back system. The crankshaft is always placed in the position in front of the inlet, which allows the engine to start immediately. In addition, a decompression mechanism almost cancels the resistance at startup. In operation, the ACG starter is extremely quiet. A 5-speed transmission is installed, the final drive is carried out via a sealed chain.
Chassis, Styling & Equipment
The new, 1.7 kg lighter tube frame is made of high-strength steel. Its geometry makes it possible to
best balance between driving comfort and straightforwardness.
The motor is centrally and stable lysed on the frame. The focus here is on light steering impact and sporty driving feeling in all slants. Inclination and trailing are 26° and 92.4 mm with a wheelbase of 1280 mm and a wet weight of 117 kg.
The CB125F is thus a total of 11 kg lighter.
The two rear shock absorbers have a 5-stage spring preload adjustment and complement the response and quality of the 31 mm telescopic fork. Stylish 18-inch aluminum die-cast front and rear wheels with split spokes increase stability and driving feel on bad roads in the city. The tyres have the size 80/100 front and 90/90 rear.
A 240 mm brake disc with double piston caliper is installed at the front and is supported by a 130 mm rear brake drum. The combined braking system ensures that the activation of the rear brake also exerts a certain braking force on the front.
The new, aggressive styling of the CB125F is reminiscent of the larger models of the family.
Especially the wide-shouldered fuel tank and the silver-coloured cladding are based on the CB-R Neo Sports Café family. The angular front with blackened fly-screen is influenced by the CB500F. In addition to reducing the wind, it offers a sharper appearance. In addition, the CB has a new LED headlight and digital fittings with the most important information. This includes a gear display as well as real-time and average consumption, the range of space and an ECO display for the most efficient driving style possible.
The start/stop button, which is integrated as standard, is also new. There is also a switch for remote/dipped light.
The motor, manifold, standpipes and wheels are kept in black. In this way, the strong lines and the striking paintwork are emphasized. The exhaust plug is blackened and provided with a chrome-plated heat shield. Bright red accents can be found on shock absorber springs, spark plugs and in the form of the HONDA logo on the engine cover.
Further details are the 3D Honda Wings on the side panels. The shape of the mirrors and the blinkers underline the design language of the machine.
The CB125F is designed as a motorcycle for commuters, as an entry machine and for driving schools.
The upright and relaxed sitting position with the forward-shifted footrests and wide handlebars provides optimal control, creates driver confidence and enables a good all-round view.
At 790 mm, the seat height is 15 mm higher than the predecessor and offers comfortable space
for two adults. Like the main stand, a retaining bracket for the passenger is standard equipment.
