What can the new luxury tourer from the USA do?

House paid off, garden put in order, children grown, so actually all wishes fulfilled? How about a new Harley Davidson Road Glide for a casual 32,000 flakes? In any case, you wouldn't be bored anymore. Volker and Dietmar were amazed during the test drive. What a device!

Please go your separate ways, here comes the new Road Glide.

Admittedly, a review of the new Road Glide won't be easy to write, after all, you want to reproduce your driving impressions as accurately as possible. In the case of this machine, this will be difficult - you actually have to drive the new Tourer from Harley yourself to understand what makes this ship so fascinating. Well, I'll give it a try.
 
Let's start with the simple things. The new Road Glide costs 31,845 euros without accessories. Many Harley riders will probably at least get an extra silencer, although we think this is almost superfluous, but more on that later. The Road King is available with hardware in chrome and black, and then in no less than eight colors. Finally a real choice of colors on a motorcycle!

Our test machine is located at Harley Davidson Kiel in a beautiful matt blue next to a black Street Glide. It looks majestic with its new sharknose, which no longer houses two headlights, but a continuous light strip - of course in LED including daytime running lights and position lights. The new headlight is actually reminiscent of the chewing bar of a great white shark. "Sharknose" fits, the bike really looks like a shark from the front. Like a very big shark.
 
The Street Glide is almost identical, only the differently designed front ("Batwing") resonates when steering, unlike the Road Glide. In addition, the handlebars of the Streety are mounted much lower and the turn signals are integrated into the front like eyeliner and also function as daytime running lights. Which one is prettier? A matter of opinion, in any case, both are more than awe-inspiring.

Also nice: The sister model HD Street Glide 2024, which is almost identical except for the front.
 
 
Dimensions and seat ergonomics
 
During the seat test, Dietmar has to be careful not to fall asleep right away, it is so wonderfully comfortable to sit on the Road Glide. The handlebars are mounted very high, but that doesn't bother you. Overall, the motorcycle is gigantic in size and accordingly both seat test subjects have a lot of space. The seat is mega-comfortable for the driver, but not quite so comfortable for the passenger, because you inevitably tilt a little backwards.
 
The rider's seat height is quite low at 720mm Harley-tyisch. This is good for a secure footing and for manoeuvring, because the machine weighs no less than 380 kilograms ready to drive! Therefore: novice drivers, hands off. Everyone else: Take a seat and enjoy, please.
