3.1 Styling & Equipment
Typical for a GT scooter, such as the Forza 750, are the attachment of mirrors and front indicators to the elegant front panel. The cladding provides safe wind protection for high-speed journeys without compromising mobility in city traffic. The flyscreen envelops the driver and the passenger in a kind of air cushion.
As head of the family, the Forza 750, in addition to its good driving characteristics, makes a statement in terms of style and high-quality workmanship. His presence attracts attention wherever heappears.
In the end, practical details count: at the front there is a lot of legroom, the carefully contoured bench is comfortable and ensures good ground accessibility. The seat height is 790 mm, the luggage compartment under the seat has a volume of 21 liters and accommodates an integral helmet. In addition, there is a USB charging socket in the rear part of the compartment. A useful and easily accessible glove compartment is hidden in the right interior panel. The innovative 5-inch TFT display in the cockpit of the Forza 750 allows you to pair a smartphone thanks to the integrated Honda voice control system. This allows the driver to make calls, retrieve e-mails, listen to music and navigate on the go. To use it, the smartphone must be connected to the interface via Bluetooth, and a headset is required. The Honda smartphone voice control is also possible via buttons on the left switch unit.
The Forza 750 offers additional comfort with the standard Smart Key. Simply stored in the driver's pocket, it eliminates the need to use a key for ignition, fuel cap and seat. Once the smart key is within range, the main switch can be operated. This gives the driver control over the ignition and steering lock as well as the fuel cap and the seat (each via two rocker switches). The Smart Key unlocks and unlocks the optional Smart Topcase. In addition, there is an "answer-back" function, which presses the blinkers to make them easier to see from a distance. A mechanism in the main switch prevents the handlebars from being forcibly unlocked.
The rear indicators of the Forza 750 have an emergency stop signal function (ESS). With a negative acceleration of 6.0 m/s2 and a minimum speed of 53 km/h with simultaneous brakes, the warning indicators flash to warn other road users of an abrupt stop. Above this, the threshold is applied to a negative acceleration of the
reduced by at least 2.5 m/s2 when the ABS is activated.
The function also switches off automatically. Unlike a simple timer,
the system compares the speed difference between the front and rear wheels and calculates the time at which the warning flasher must be deactivated depending on the situation.
3.2 Motor
The liquid-cooled SOHC-8-valve parallel twin of the Forza 750 ensures powerful performance development in the lower to medium speed range. Its relatively long-stroke architecture and specially shaped combustion chambers, in combination with the high-mass crankshaft, produce a lot of torque seemingly effortlessly even at very low speeds.
Throttle By Wire (TBW) regulates the performance of the engine and its characteristics (see section 3.3 motor electronics). The peak power is 43.1 kW at 6,750 rpm with a maximum torque of 69 Nm at 4,750 rpm. At 7,000 rpm, the red range begins, limiting a further increase in speed. The Forza 750 covers the distance of 0-50 m in 3.9 s. At 60 km/h, the speed is only 2,500 rpm.
Two balancer shafts counteract vibrations caused by the higher speed inertia. The charackteristic sound of the parallel twins, which is created by the irregular ignition sequence of the engine and the crankshaft of 270°, is preserved. The bore and stroke are set to 77 x 80 mm. Wherever possible, the components are manufactured in such a way that they can handle more than one task: for example.B the camshaft drives the water pump, while one of the balancing shafts drives the oil pump. By reducing the number of components to a minimum, the engine operates easily, efficiently and reliably.
For holders of the A2 driving licence class, it is possible to throttle the Forza750 to 48hp (35kW) by a Honda dealer replacing the standard throttle valve and reprogramming the control unit.
With a measured consumption of 3.6 l/100km (WMTC mode), the engine of the Forza 750 is exceptionally economical. The 14.1 l fuel tank thus results in a potential range of 370 km. In addition, the engine meets the EURO5 standard.
3.3 Motor Electronics
TBW controls the performance development and thus the characteristics of the motor. The driver has 3 modes to choose from, covering a wide range of driving conditions. The mode selection is made via the left switch unit and the TFT display.
STANDARD offers a balanced setting between engine power development, engine brake and HSTC as well as highly regulating ABS.
SPORT provides a sportier performance and braking effect of the engine, with little intervention of the HSTC and highly regulating ABS.
RAIN transmits low engine power and engine braking performance with strong intervention of HSTC and ABS.
USER offers user-specific adjustment options of the engine power development/motor brake and the HSTC in the low, medium and high stages.
The HTSC can also be deactivated.
The Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC) hardly stands out in operation and has a refined control system. Thanks to TBW, it controls the rear torque in 3 levels:
Level 1 ensures minimal intervention of the system and allows controlled rotation of the rear wheel.
Level 2 is the default setting and provides safe traction for any driving conditions.
Level 3 provides maximum control on slippery roads.
HSTC can also be deactivated.
3.4 Dual-clutch transmission (DCT)
Different switching behavior depending on the selected driving mode
Honda's DCT technology is in its eleventh year of production. Since 2010, more than 140,000 DCT-equipped motorcycles have been sold in Europe. The gearbox enables seamless gear changes and offers irreplaceable added value when driving quickly.
The gearbox uses two couplings: one for starting and 1st, 3rd and 5th gear, the other for the 2nd, 4th and 6th gears. The main shafts of the two couplings are interlocked in a space-saving manner to enable a compact design. Each coupling is independently controlled by its own electrohydraulic circuit. When a gear change occurs, the system selects the target gear using the currently unused coupling. The first coupling is then moved out electronically while the second coupling is coupled in at the same time.
The result is a smooth, fast and seamless gear change. Since the dual clutch transmits the drive from one gear to the next with minimal drive interruption to the rear wheel, the shock and nick movements of the machine are minimized, so that the change feels direct and even. Additional advantages include.B longevity (since the gears cannot be damaged by incorrect shifting), preventing choking, stress-free driving in the city and reduced driver fatigue.
The DCT system offers two different driving concepts. On the one hand, the automatic setting with pre-programmed switching patterns, which constantly monitors the vehicle speed, the selected gear and the engine speed in order to measure the optimal switching process. On the other hand, the manual gearbox adjustment for the gear change via the shifters on the left side of the handlebars.
Thanks to the TBW control, 4 automatic switching behaviors and the USER mode are available. Stage 1 is the most relaxed, with the power up and down at relatively low revs being connected to the RAIN driving mode. Stage 4, on the other hand, switches up at higher speeds and also switches off earlier to increase the engine braking effect, it is connected to the SPORT mode. Level 2 is connected to standard driving mode and Level 3 is between STANDARD and SPORT modes.
The USER mode allows the driver to combine one of the DCT switching patterns with the preferred other parameters such as engine power charackterism, engine brake and HSTC.
Chassis
For the stability of the Forza 750, a robust steel tube frame is used, which also provides sufficient space for the storage space under the bench. Steering head angle and trailing are set to 27°/104 mm with a wheelbase of 1580 mm. The total weight (wet) is 235 kg.
The damper with adjustable spring preload is a single-tube construction and uses the Pro-Link lever system to actuate the aluminium swingarm, which has u-shaped cross-section arms.
The 17-inch front wheel and 15-inch rear wheel are made of cast aluminium and ensure safe handling and stability. The tyres have the dimensions 120/70 R17 and 160/60 R15. Two radially mounted, opposite four-piston brake calipers grip the 310 mm discs and operate via an ABS system.
